WAve 8 Article is up

By Panic 217, in X-Wing

A Cloaked Talonbane Cobra or Graz the Hunter are going to be really interesting. 5 dice defence? Sure, why not!

Oh no! They did the SW Rebels stuff ... I guess I'm out at this point ...

Good-bye.

This stuff looks really good and I like the way they added a lot of extra hate against 2-ship lists.

Personally not seeing that exactly

We just got 2 more (potential) fat ships (one of which is yet another 3 dice PWT, albeit lacking the defensive stats + tech)

We got yet another lacky for RAC (though it does use thrusters so hmmm)

And we got a scum bwing (which I have no idea about how it'll fit into the game)

And once again, FFG brings balance. Like a much better Anakin Skywalker :P

2-ship builds dominating? Have some cards/ships to take them on!

Is it just me or does the inquisitor tie seem a little expensive point-wise? It's only two attack dice, and there aren't many icons to make it much better...

Umm, read his ability again...

umh would that affect the defenders defence dice?

Mostly Unrelated to Most things, But YET TO BE DISCUSSED WITH WAVE 8 IS....

WE'VE REACHED ZZ TARGETLOCK GET READY FOR AAA? or A1?

To me Wave 8 seems a lot more interesting than Wave 7 (maybe im just not that much into bombers).

It's not just you. Only ship that interests me in 7 is the Hound's Tooth.

Honestly, the main reason I want one of those is to paint it like a Winnebago.

it effects them not getting a green dice at your primary attack range 3

Wait, which?

I just see 2 more fat ships and a pwt lackey in the inquisitor

The variety is exciting but I can't find the counters

It also nerfs their autothursters at range 3 in that case. But he can take them and sit at range 3 all day :P

"Oh, yeah your autothrusters don't work...oh? yeah let me just turn my own green blank over..."

He's the Imperial Troll-quisitor.

Also this is fresh. Wave 7's completly spoiled.

Before it is even released. sigh

Well so far for sure, Kallus (pick their fat ship and always get focus against it) and Scourge (anything that can take damage and still be around will be his target).

And then whatever else we get in actual Wave 8. Plus Adv Homing has already given us a way to get terrible crits through on big stuff without having to chew through the shields. Knock Dash's HLC or Mangler off, or take away Han's pilot ability and EPT.

And then a little more situational, sit at range 3 with the Inquisitor, his title and stealth. No extra green for them, 5 green for you and 3 red dice at them.

So I'm guessing the Inquisitor's ability severely limits the missiles he can use, doesn't it? Since he's always attacking from Range 1, any missile that requires you to be at Range 2 or 3 is right out, no?

If I understand it right inquisitor only modifies attack, not defence, so you still get to use Autothrusters vs him at range 3

No, you just treat his primary as if it were range 1. It won't effect any other type of attack.

While yet another PWT with 3 dice is a bitter, unnecessary dissapointment

Are you really surprised that the S&V got a 3 dice PWT? When the VT-49 came out, it was pretty much a given that S&V would get one at some point.
Yv666 was enough for me :(

A PWT in and of itself isn't irredeemable. Both the 2400 and the k can't crutch on it because of a measly 2 dice

Sadly this is a 3 dice PWT due to title. Hopefully, it'll have reason to care about arc (dengar, new AT ship)

No telling what the other pilot costs are but Dengar plus the title is 45 points before any other upgrades. That's the same point cost as Dash with Mangler and Outrider.

Same cost as han/Cheri (well 1 cheaper)

Cause god alone knows we needed more of those

Lack of defensive tech (lack of amounts of health too) gives me pause before declaring fat season to be on though.

So far scum crew and aggromechs are all offensive upgrades. If they stay that way, at least we won't have to suffer fat han 3.0

Yeah. I think 9 HP with 2 AGI, boosted only by crew or EPTs (Lone Wolf/Rec Spec like Firesprays) are going to mean he's not nearly as nasty defensively as lots of stuff. Maybe he'll have crap green moves. PTL at PS9 with native Barrel Roll is going to be rough.

I was close.

Dengar

Crew. Scum Only. 5 points.

When attacking or defending against an enemy in your firing arc which you have a Target Lock on , you may roll 1 additional die.

Bounty Hunter's Guild

EPT. Scum Only. 3 Points.

At the beginning of the game before the "Set Dials" step, you may acquire a Target Lock on an enemy ship. When attacking a Target Locked ship, you may reroll attack dice without discarding your blue target lock token. You may not use the Target Lock action or acquire a new Target Lock if you already posses a blue target lock token.

That is a freaking sweet card. What do you put it on? Seems like Firespray is really the best option.

Agent Kallus is a big counter to 2-ship builds, that tracking missile thing will be wonderful for swarms fighting against fatties. the Bounty Hunter's Guild card someone figured out should help scum chase a single fattie in the same way Kallus helps imps.

Does Palob need his elicit slot? Thinking about that cloak...

Once he takes some hits he seems like the obvious choice to just leave him cloaked and mess with people. Especially if he's running light on the offense.

It treats the attack as if it were range 1 so no AT

There is a variety of stuff, but I think a lot that is being referenced to is in the Gonzati. Scourge is evil against damaged ships, and Kallus makes things tough when there is a small amount of targets.

Idea for an anti-fat list:

5 bandits with adv. homing missiles and failsafe

Blount with xx-23

It would be funny at least

Yeah I'm already planning on putting Kallus on Imp Firesprays with a few small escorts like Scourge.

Oh, missed the primary part, reading too fast. :)

Having played mauler and stabber I'm not terribly impressed by scourge. That's a one shot waitingvto happen

The crew card is nifty and well priced but I doubt it'll have enough impact. In fact you might just see it on 2 ship builds going against other 2 ship builds

And now for a crazy idea about non titled jump masters

Deadeye

Proton torps

Extra munis

R4 aggro mech

Since they can't get hlc, that's the best I can do
