Pulling into its own thread for discussion, but FFG's CEO made a few interesting comments regarding Episode VII. Specifically, he said flat-out that they have Episode VII stuff 'on the water', he just 'can't talk about it quite yet'.

And that all the Wave 8 and second Imperial 'huge' ship releases...'may' be early 2016...but there is something 'important going on at the factory he can't talk about quite yet' that is causing delay with the X-Wing line.

I think it's safe to assume that we've got Episode VII stuff coming before these guys. I assume something like the 'Most wanted' pack to give us the T-70 and new TIE Fighters? Who knows...

Interesting, indeed. I missed the "on the water" remark, but that certainly piques interest for a possible release around the movies. I would guess this would involve new X-Wing Fighter stuff since the previews have been X-Wing porn. This is probably the X-Wing "fix," plus whatever new stuff they will release from the movie.

Odd that Disney has let Hasbro leak things in advance of that, but I guess Hasbro somewhat dwarfs FFG, so...I suppose it's all about the money.

This would alleviate a lot of forum griping. I'm content to wait for Wave 8 til end of Q1 next year. My heads still whirling from all the spoilers yesterday for ships we likely won't see for months...wave 8 looks great but it's hard to consolidate 2 waves of ships, 2 epics, and a possible Aces pack.

FFG has traditionally not referred to 'Aces packs' as waves, which is another reason that one was a top guess for me.

Did he specifically say it would be X-Wing Episode VII stuff? Or was that more like a transitional, wrap-up of the Star Wars category, "Oh and by the way, we have lots of exciting Star Wars games coming for Force Awakens"?

I expect mos likely situation is we'll see a new game or two for TFA rather than expansions to any of the existing games.

People poking around looking at all the new TFA stuff are more likely to pick up a brand new game than an expansion to something they might not have heard of.

Oh, we may well get a new game for it, but why not also build on what they have?

I mean, FFG is paying through the nose for the license, but it's being profitable for them. And as the CEO said again, today, X-Wing is by far their most profitable line. So it'd be crazy to imagine they aren't going to put out Episode VII stuff for X-Wing.

Will it also appear in Armada and Imperial Assault and their RPG? Probably all those, too. Again, it's a paid-for investment, so...why not get as much value from it as you possibly can? It only makes sense!

A new core set with ep7 stuff would satisfy both requirements. I'll be surprised if that's not what we get.

Probably new games, maybe standalone and expansions to existing lines. Little over a month till we find out.

So if we are waiting for wave seven to arrive soon~ish and wave 8 will be out in all its glory sometime next year, what will the episode VII sruff be?

I can just about guarantee it's not a new 'starter' set. What would be the point?

IMHO, this is going to be a 'Most Wanted'-style jumbo 'Aces' pack. **IF** FFG introduces the 'Resistance' and 'First Order' as new factions (odds are low) that would allow them to put out new dials and tiles to achieve the desired effect, as 'Most Wanted' did. (I half expect to see a new pilot for the Falcon, anyway, in Rey)
