Imperial Assault: Return to Hoth

By patox, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I'm very happy about this!

I like how the SC repulsor tank looks like a mini rig version of the IFT-T saber tank.

But I'm most pleased with the wampas! If only for this: The first expansion had a Tusken Raider on a Bantha, this one has the Wampa. So the chances of getting a Rancor in the 3d expansion seem pretty good!

Just Tusken Raiders in Twin Suns. The Bantha Rider is a Wave 4 villain pack. Still a ways off, which is upsetting because its the figure I want most after Boba Fett. I NEED it!

Whoops, my bad! I must say that first expansion seems a bit underwhelming then compared to Return to Hoth. No Fett, no Bantha...

Most specific unique characters and a large number of other figures will be relegated to ally and villain packs. I believe Boba Fett has a token in Twin Shadows and his deployment card, but his figure and associated command cards will only be in his Villain pack. The Bantha, to my knowledge, will only be in its villain pack. The Big Box expansions will always be mostly for campaign, but will include skirmish units that are only available there. Ally and Villain packs will be the main method they add content to Skirmish. However, if you want EVERYTHING (and we both know you <we> do), you have to buy everything.

Twin Shadows is meant to be underwhelming compared to Return to Hoth. Hoth is the first full new campaign we're getting with a full set of tiles, 3 heroes, and more Imperial figures. It's also being sold at a higher price than Twin Shadows.

Throwing out some speculation: Leia's Campaign version probably has a second ability related to supply cards; the most likely imo is something like Mak's supply network.

Just me or do the wampas look like they are tripping?

I'm sure it's 4:20 on Hoth sometimes!

Some of these new commands cards are pretty good.

There is Another - Leia: Use at the start of a round. Until the end of the round you gain the Force user trait and apply +1 surge to your attack results. 0pts, limit 1

Against the Odds: Use at the end of a round. If your opponent has at least X more VPs than you, choose up to 3 of your figures. Those figures become focused. 0pts, limit 1

Optimal Bombardment - General Sorin: (special action) (special action): Choose up to 3 vehicles, droids or heavy weapons adjacent to you. Each of these figures may interrupt to perform an attack. Each attack gains blast 1

Against the Odds in particular seems really good - although it's hard to tell from the picture what that X is - is it 5, 6 or maybe even 8?

In case anyone missed it, the Leia and Hoth Rebel trooper pack come with side missions to unlock them. Meaning you probably won't get a side mission to unlock them in the Return to Hoth box, just like R2 and 3PO.

Possible, but there are a few different ways to unlock other characters. Vader, for instance...

The generics often have more than one unlock mission, as if you get them twice it allows you to recruit the elite versions as well. However, I doubt that Leia will be unlock-able in two places, as there is no benefit to doing so. It makes sense to have the mission in the figure expansion, so that anyone can unlock her to use as an ally, even if they don't have the Hoth expansion.

I'm a little surprised no one is talking about how they included Elsa from Frozen as one of the new heroes. I mean there she is... Letting it go, right on the front of the box.

One day we will give this woman credit for her own name... it is not this day.

....is this one really cold topic...

Amazon has a release date.......

March 31st 2016

I hope this is just a wild guess of them.

Amazon is always a wild guess. People should reeeaally stop using them to estimate release datea

March seems right, it leaves December open for episode 7 content.

Yes please for Ep 7 content!

This, though your probably looking at an extremely safe date for when Return to Hoth will be widely available

I think if they were going to release episode 7 content they would have announced it by now to start build hype.

Hoth is the perfect place for her!

A reasonable assumption, and i do indeed believe we may well not see any IA ep VII stuff before theatrical release but Disney have already outlined the marketing strategy, which is pretty much constant stream of announcements and releases from 04/09/15 till 18/12/15, so a lack of announcement is not a terribly useful sign.

this looks to be a very exciting release

now i desperately want a Bossk to complete the original 4 bounty hunters from ESB. I've refused to paint any of my trandoshan hunters in bossk's standard yellow jump suit because i know he's due to be released eventually

We'll we still need suck us and 4lom as well

Zuckuss and 4-LOM

The FFG news release said fourth quarter of 2015. Are they always wrong or something?

You think Ep 7 stuff is appropes? I think that since this game is focuses on figures of the peeps, rather than their ships (which act as a layer of abstraction between us and the characters), it'll seem more incongruous to have people of different eras involved.
