Imperial Assault: Return to Hoth

By patox, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

The core game introduced the idea of time periods so they've got that covered.

We've only seen the first wave of episode 7 toys, some characters glimpsed in screen shots or vehicles seen in concept art haven't had toys released for them yet. There will be another wave of trailers and toys before the movie is out.

Do you really think all FFG is going to release for episode 7 in time for Christmas is an x-wing and a tie fighter model.

Maybe they will release campaign heroes like the Allies and Villains packs.

The core game introduced the idea of time periods so they've got that covered.

True. There was some problem I saw with extending this beyond the original stuff, but I can't remember what it was.

March seems right, it leaves December open for episode 7 content.

The FFG news release said fourth quarter of 2015. Are they always wrong or something?

Usually.

Well here is a hint, when was Twin Suns predicted to come out? June, maybe early July? When did we get it? Then simply think of Armada, the core set was scheduled for Q4 one year and was eventually released in March. It is a good idea to add a good month or two to any FFG release. Think of it as a bonus bit of time to set aside money for their awesome products. That or mind numbing anticipation, either or.

What kind of starting skills are we looking at for the Rebel heroes?

Where did these pictures come from? Some convention?

Is that a vehicle-themed imperial class deck in Return to Hoth?

Actually looks like THREE new class decks for imperials! (probably in an announcement already, but I don't remember)

I don't know for sure....I didn't take the pix myself, but I think they were just on display.

Does this mean that there are people out there who know rule 63 star lords abilities and aren't telling us? *pulls out shotgun*.

Can they get a better pic of the hero card at least :)

I LOVE THE SNOW TILES.

This sentence is cool: "experience massive, multi-fronted skirmishes with up to three opponents!"

:D :D

This changes everything for me.

We usually play campaign but this will get me back into skirmish.

I'm confused by the wording... 4-player skirmish with up to three opponents. I'm assuming the three opponents are relative to whoever is reading the sentence, making a total of four people, but with only 3 factions, doesn't 3-player skirmish make more sense? And you could certainly refer to all players as being 'opponents'.

Correct. Four players. If you're one of the four players, how many opponents do you have?

Snowtroopers and HK-47 (or one of his follow-ons), plus Elsa with a blaster? Sign me up.

But the BOX is an outside observer, who would see all four combatants as opponents... My question with the wording was more whether it suggests that two players are required to be partners, making three factions, three opponents, or if all four people are able to pick any faction and fight the three remaining players. As in "imp vs imp vs rebel vs scum", etc. or "imp-imp vs rebel vs scum".

Wave 3 is on store shelves in the US. Dropped last week.

No, no beer. Think of it this way. A sports commentator describing a boxing match. Both of the fighters are opponents, so two participants = two opponents. The box describes a four player event with three opponents. The campaign utilizes one person to control one faction, and up to four other people to control the other faction. So, given that there are only three factions, are they saying this will be two people on the side of one faction who are cooperating against the other two people/factions - equaling three total opponents, or is it four independent players facing each other, in which case each player would have three opponents? I assume the latter, but with only three factions it seems odd having a splinter cell of the one faction fighting another player with the same faction.

It might actually be more interesting having one double-sized faction against the two smaller factions, than just a four player free-for-all.
