a buddy of mine played this against me and what a pain in my the ***. Anyone else run into this? How do you deal with it?
Is Wisper with a sensor jammer a thing?
Take focus actions?
Whisper with Sensor Jammer and Rebel Captive. Very effective. Nobody wants to shoot her.
However, this can also be a problem. Phantoms work really effectively as bait to give the rest of your list time to chew through something. Think of Whisper + Miniswarm for example. But the flipside of this build is that she comes too unappealing a target. Most smart opponents will simply recognise that she won't put out much damage and ignore her, taking our her support first.
I've had mixed success with it.
I focus, but he can too.
4 to 5 dice isnt much damage?
she throws more dice then i have evades so eventually shes going to get the damage in.
Now granted ive comeback to the game since wave 2 so alot has changed. thanks fo rthe insight though.
I have used it on Sigmas and it works pretty well, especially against Big Turrets which usually use their actions to reposition or evade. It ends up making the big turrets predictable for the rest of your squad and effective versus Whisper or just makes them not able to shoot Whisper effectively.
Personally with the extra points on Whisper, my gut tells me that I need FCS to dish out enough damage, but I haven't eaten yet and I might just be hungry.
I'm mixed on it. I like the FCS on whisper cause that allows me to take an evade and if I hit I have focus evade defense.
A Sensor Jammer on a Phantom can make it really annoying to kill especially if you have ships that are using their actions to maneuver to setup shots, trying to block, or bumping or K-Turning to spread their arcs around.
A lot of times you'll have someone spend a focus token that they wouldn't have spent on offense which deprives them of one to use on defense.
