in edge of the empire is system strain 10 to 1?
System strain question
Vehicles have a System Strain Threshold indicating how much System Strain they can take. The amount varies, in general the large the vehicle, the more System Strain it can take.
If a vehicle is subject to System Strain, it adds up. If the accumulated System Strain ever exceeds the System Strain Threshold, the vehicle is effectively knocked out (movement drops to 0 the following round, no shooting, Defense drops to 0).
EDIT: Ups, misinterpreted that question. I'd go with Domingo's ruling as the rule on p.224 does not mention strain.
Edited by FranigoRAW: The sidebar on p. 224 in the EotE CRB says, "when dealing with a vessel's weapons, armor, and hull trauma threshold, every point is equal to ten points of the equivalent characteristic in the personal scale." There is no mention of a 10:1 conversion between system strain and strain.
Interpretation: I personally would rule that personal scale weapons on a stun setting do not affect vehicles. Starship weapons with the Ion characteristic that normally deal system strain to a ship would deal wounds to characters (probably cooking them from the inside out vs. blowing them up outright).
It just seems to me that 4 strain on a speeder bike isn't much. I would think the strain would be higher mostly because of terrain and such the strain of 4 seems to make it a speeder bike you can't put through any thing. Use punch it which is 3 strain, the rest of the time your driving/flying like grandma in the hammer lane.

Punch It doesn't allow you to fly faster then anyone else. It allows you to get to speed faster at a cost of the difference. So the only way it would cost 3 for the speeder is if you're going from 0 to 3 in that single maneuver. If you're constantly dropping to a standstill then using the Punch It maneuver, you have bigger issues in the fight then system strain haha.
Also keep in mind that any fighter pilot or swoop jockey worth his money is going to dip into the Hot Shot specialization from AoR:SoT which is going to allow the pilot to take strain instead of the vehicle/ship to allow for more stressing maneuvers and Ion hits than than it could normally handle.
Honestly, outside of getting attacked, there aren't a lot of things that will stress the craft. Everything has either been via combat damage or roleplay for me. For example, I've had to have my pilot make quite a few damage control checks going across a vast desert before because the bike's engines kept getting glassed over from the sand (strain).
