Ships have to deploy in the setup area - barring objectives that change that.
Was the game meant to be played at 400 points ?
Yeah, but I can deploy them within distance 3 of my table edge and less than distance 5 of the left and right table edges ? So overall it's bigger than 4x3, or maybe I'm really misunderstanding you guy's points.

Yeah, I'm well aware of that, but what do you call the setup area compared to the overall board ? That's where you guy's points are confusing me ![]()
The gaming board is 6x3'. Regardless of where you deploy your ships, you can still move within these 6x3.
Yes but you can only deploy your ships, place your obstacles, etc in the setup area. After setup that area distinction goes away and it becomes the play area
I really can't beleive I've missed that part about the setup area being 4x3 (in fact, I can't believe I missed the fact that there was a set up area that was different from the play area)... My only consolation is that I'm not alone to have missed that in my meta
That changes so much stuff, I can understand why we had trouble killing one another... It also makes flanking maneuvers much much easier ! Wow, at 400 points this game is going to become a bloodbath.
I feel much more enlightened now
My God, this makes Insidious that much more efficient as a flanker !
My Brother and I initially deployed on the whole 6x3, and it took 3 turns to even get close enough to shoot. We then decided to deploy closer to the middle and play with the whole 6x3...only after a few games realizing that this method was actually in the rules heh.
It makes the game supremely deadly actually. Unless you set up with fast ships to run away immediately, there is bloody brawling going on hardcore by turn 2. Fleet Ambush extends this to turn 1...squadrons are insane for quick engagements. Of course, people wouldn't realize this due to current views on how to "properly" play ![]()
Squadrons are indeed absolutely deadly. I played a Gallant Haven with Adar Tallon and ECM, with only 4 X-Wings including Wedge and they made short work of the enemy fighters (with a little help in anti-barrage, they killed 2 Interceptors, Mauler, Howlrunner and 3 Regular TIEs) and inflicted a total of 5 damage points (2 shields, 3 hulls) on the enemy Victory flagship which greatly helped to bring it down. Only losing one X-Wing in the process. Squadrons are boss ! In my Imperial fleet, I'm considering to try a carrier VSD with Chiraneau, Flight Controllers and Expanded Hangar Bays to manage a wing of 2 Bombers, 2 Advanced, 2 Interceptors with Mauler and Howlrunner. First sending the fighters up (6 attack dice on the Interceptors with Howlrunner and Flight Controllers, yikes ! Then you factor in the Swarm...) then moving in the Bomber Wing. This is probably going to be the most burst damage I'll throw in the fighter game ![]()

Back on topic, I've just completed today collecting all of Wave 1 expansions, and I have to say that even Wave 1 feels ready for 400 points. The amount of upgrades and combos you can throw in is absolutely fantastic and I just can't wait to have them all on the table ![]()
