New X-Wing ships to be announced tomorrow at FFG's In-Flight Report

By Danthrax, in X-Wing

I don't get why people want this Gozanti thing deploying TIE Fighters. Why wouldn't you want them all out at the start of the battle?

for me it's a visual thing. I don't actually care if they have carrier rules for deploying them mid game (though if they can come up with a way to make that relevant, bonus), I want the scales to match so that I can model the TIEs to the underside and have it look correct.

Fair enough - looking good is certainly good enough for me!

Tie: no shields.

Gozanti: shields.

Great way to release your harassing fighters in the enemy's backfield before they take damage.

^^ This.

Flooding the field with TIE Fighters is one thing, but Howlrunner's aura is usually what makes them really dangerous, and Howlrunner is an obvious first target that, especially in epic scale, is negligibly harder to kill than the other TIE fighters. Now imagine if Howlrunner isn't on the field and potentially kill-able until you decide it's the right time to deploy and boost your offense. And if that aura worked while still docked.... *shivers*

Howl Runner is not worth it IMO since she is toast after the initial clash 90% of the time.

Really prefer straight academy tie swarm for both maneuvering, cost efficiency and allowing for swarm to continue being efficient throughout whole match.

I do think there would need to be good reasons provided to hold off on deploying TIEs or other ships mid-game instead of at the start, but I can also think of a few that I'd be willing to consider. Positioning advantage. Withholding valuable pilots (targets for your enemies) until they are needed. Maybe the cost will be reduced, like with the Hounds Tooth (half price Z-95 but with conditional deployment). Maybe it allows you to exceed the maximum 12 of a single ship if you withheld some until others were destroyed. More to that vein, what if it allowed you to redeploy a generic after a unique pilot is destroyed, as is allowed in some of the scenarios. Maybe some other cool reason I can't even fathom.

They'd need to give us interesting reasons to delay deploying ships if a carrier vessel was released, but I think there are more than a few interesting ways to implement that. I also think that it could add some variety and more detailed strategy to Epic games to further set them apart from the 100 point dogfight, even in an Epic Dogfight situation.

Any other cool theories?

So what time tomorrow is the inflight report? At what point can I expect to stop getting stuff done while I check this board?

The in-flight briefing (or whatever) starts at noon Eastern. In the past, they've left X-wing until later in the discussion.

So what time is the inflight report? Eastern time please?

Would be helpful if you could tell me the GMT time as well, as I'm too lazy to work it out myself :)

Edit: Found it, 5 hours ahead + 12 hours for NZ time = 5am tomorrow

I'm guessing it will be aces packs announced.

Y-Wing and X-Wing Rebel Aces 2.

Fixes for both. Pilots with EPTS with Y-wings, title or mod for x-Wing to shave the price or add boost icon for cheap.

As for Imperial Aces 2, it's hard to say.

I'm not sure if they're inclined to put brand new ships in an aces pack. Rather than fixing previously existing ones

Snowspeeder and Twin-Pod Cloud Car!

Ewok Glider!
Chewbacca holding a couple of teatrays and flapping his arms REALLY FAST!

King fisher 9000, Kingfisher 9000, Kingfisher 9000....

Scum aces

Absolutely this.

It'll be two M3-A Interceptors with new paint jobs and tons of new pilots to choose from! :P

I finally made it through the line into Fantasy Flight's store. If anyone doesn't know what it looks like when a store is fully stocked with X-Wing, here you go:

It's beautiful, I can feel my wallet burning from here...

Where's the Raider shelf?

How long do the discussions usually last?

Snowspeeder and Twin-Pod Cloud Car!

Ewok Glider!
T-16 Skyhopper!

Edit: That would definitely mean a new EPT, Womp Rat Ace.

And Gavin!

About an hour to hour and a half.

T-minus 60 minutes and counting...

Waiting....

To take this to it's natural conclusion, it would also mean Womp Rats.

Not at all!

Womp Rat Ace

(EPT)

Cost: 2

When attacking with a [torpedo] or [missile], if you are outside the defender's arc, you may re-roll one of your blank results. If you choose to do so, you must mutter "I used to bulls-eye womp rats in my T-16 back home - they're not much bigger than two metres."

Man, just woke up from a nightmare where wave 8 was announced as three YT-1300 repaints - two for the Rebels and one for Scum. And that was all that was in the wave.

Uggggh...need some coffee, now, to clear my head of that horrible vision....

Isn't Deadeye the Womp Rat Ace card all you dream of? :P

Also, there won't be an stream of this, right?

No, I want Wamp Rats now. Don't get my hopes up and take this away from me, dammit

24 more minutes!!!
