Wow ya screw waiting for the NEXT order if they oversell their preorders. They need to refund without being asked if that's the case.

My FLGS owner uses it as an idea for how much to initially order. But if you're not buying from a FLGS then it probably doesn't matter.

So does mine. But that is 1 week in advance, not 3+ months.
Ive seen stores ask people to "preorder" without paying, so they have a good idea on how many they need to try to get! But they also arent worried about guys backing out as they WILL sell! They arent worried about sitting on XWing ships!
I'm actually a little confused. I thought the online stores didn't charge your card until they were ready to ship the product. I know I've have an order in at the warstore for the past 2 months or so that creates a discrepancy between my checkbook and online balance because it hasn't actually been charged yet.

I have heard a rumor or 2 that FFG is forcing the Australian distributors to sit on their product till the US gets its stock, clearly the slow boats from China get to the penal colonies before getting to the land of the free haha
Picked up wave 7 today, but the raider ran out at least for today. Talked to several of the FFG people while standing in line and the general word was that all new items would be out in 2 to 6 weeks at the stores.

I think some of the nonrefund comments were about LGSs as well as online. I think some of the smaller shops want/need that money asap and charge at the time of order.

Australia gets it first because there are so many deadly animals there. FFG figures that the longer they wait the more people will die and the less sales they will have.

Well the Raider just arrived and I'm content to wait another month. (Not all of us has as much disposable income).
As for when will the rest of us get the new ships in regards to X-wing miniatures I would have to say define "new". The Raider just came out Wave 7 was pre-released at Gencon Wave 8 was announced along with the Gozanti assault Cruiser Imperial Carrier although nothing was mentioned on if they would be released on the same date or which one would come out earlier (I'm guessing Wave 8).
That's the thing about these "living" miniature games, there is always something new over the horizon. Not too long ago Imperial Players just got their big Fat turret ship and the Rebels got a more agile one. This year we got a whole new faction, wouldn't the Star Viper and MA-3 Scyk also count as "new" ships? So when will us get Wave 7 the answer is soon. Wave 8 well, in time so be patient. It is not like you're that one character from the movie Fanboys? Enjoy what is coming out of this game now because who knows what will happen in a decade or two.

I know the Raider is available, but can people buy Wave 7? There are multiple places that I've heard of that have the ships but are just waiting for FFG to give them permission to sell.

I actually placed a preorder at MM because their Kihraxz fighter numbers were getting low and I wanted to make sure I got a couple. They charged my debit card immediately!!! 
Then they UPPED the Kihraxz numbers!! They must have placed another order with FFG due to the demand...Now I know, lesson learned! Never preorder!

Preordering is fine... especially when there's like, preorders = bonus content or "first X orders get this extra thing" situations. It also generally ensures that you get the stuff the first day it's released, and you don't have to worry about them being out of stock. I really don't think there's as many downsides as people suggest...
pre ordering is also usually much much much cheaper!! my local LGS doesn't even have wave 7 on preorder and will probably get them in around Jan or feb and then charge like 10 to 15 bucks more per ship!! however the non-LGS usually has slightly better prices AND has items in stock pretty quick AND promotes the game with a nice place to play as well so I don't mind driving to it. However online has really spoiled me price wise!! but I still try to help out the "non-local LGS" when I can and most always buy something when I am there!

Considering they get our money weeks or months ahead thats reason enough for me! Not to mention I dont care if I get my
ships a few days later than the guys that preorder.
