Three Scyk Builds. Will I just Die Horribly?

By voidstate, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I like playing 3 A-Wing lists but they have a very hard time doing any damage. Looking at Heavy Scyks, they seem the opposite, they can have HLCs for dishing out massive damage, but do they die too quickly finish off the enemy squadron?

Is there any point flying something like this?

Has anyone had any success with them?

I actually think this has potential, I faced a three A wing list in regionals and it decimated my list and many others too, made it to quarterfinals if I remember it right. With Serissu you should have more durability than that list. But you have to be careful and pilot it well, try too stay at range 3 and always focus evade unless you are completely safe, you lack the boost of the A wings but you gain the barrel roll, might dodge some arcs. With three heavy laser cannons you should be able to do some damage. I think it might work actually. Try it out!

Or you could run 4 Scyks with HLCs, and give Serissu swarm tactics with 3 cartel spacers + HLCs!

Here is a video playing a similar squad

problem with Scyks is that they have neither the Ps nor the pilot abilities to really support "elite ship" loadouts. The only EPT + Pilot ability ace is Seriussu, and she's a support ship that stresses formation flying (not ideal when flying with fragile, nimble ships)

You could go for some elite tansaris and Seri, outfitting them with some hull/shield to at least approximate A-wing durability, but without thrusters you're basically ****** the very instant you run into a PWT; no matter what you do.

If you want to fly A-wings that do damage, try flying Tie Interceptors instead :P. Soontir, Carnor, Thurr, and even Royal Guards and Sabers are all very convincing (if a bit squishy) ships. You should have no trouble fitting 3 in a list, such as Soonts (PTL, Royal Guard title, thrusters + stealth), Carnor (PTL, Royal Guard title, thrusters + shield), Thurr (Veteran Instincts, Thrusters) for 98; 99 if you give Soont shield instead.

you could also try Vipers, but sadly Xizor's ability favors crap fodder while the expensive; relatively fragile Viper is probably the last thing you want to shunt damage to

I would go for 4 full HLC glass cannons w/o the Stealth Dev. like piznit, and Swarm Tactics on Serissu.
BTW: HUGE thanks for the builder!

Have you put any thought into not running Serissu at all? I think I would just allow your Scyks to spread out, force opponent to go after one let the others flank and support each other as needed?
