Late Night Self Play Batrep

By Stasy, in Star Wars: Armada

So I've got an 8hr fast and my blood drawn isn't until 9am tomorrow. Screw waking up hungry, I'll stay up till midnight and have a meal. While I wait, let's play a game!

200pt matchup

Imperial forces:

VSD II w/ Screed and Warlord

GSD I w/ ACM, Eng Tech, and Demolished

Rebel forces:

Neb B support w/ Mon Mothma, Salvation, and XI7 TL

CR90B w/ Overload

CR90B w/ Dodonna's Pride

A Wing

Rebels take 1st player, Random Draw of 3 missions that favor the Empire (Most Wanted, Minefields, and the winner Contested Outpost)

Turn 1:IMAG0252.jpg

Turn 2:IMAG0253.jpg

Turn 3:

This is where all hell broke loose. Should have slowed the GSD in for approach, and went for the Neb.

Turn 4:

Despite blowing every token on both ships, they went boom. Wow those blue dice are unforgivingly consistent.

Turn 5:

Watch the Corvette make the hard turn on 5 and 6. Too little too late to make a difference, unfortunately.

Turn 6:IMAG0257.jpg

End Positions:IMAG0258.jpg

End Score:

145-81 Empire Victory

Takeaway:

I have much to learn about navigating these ships. Demolisher rolled some real pooch dice, but did enough to just crush the Rebels. I had no chance to take the outpost victory points... Really need to consider a AFII if I'm going to try and go toe to toe with a VSD, or wait for the fun of wave 2. Felt that two CR90B setup is pretty sweet, but prepare for a bumpy ride getting in that close.

My hope is that if I can get some reps in with smaller fleets, I can get a little more successful as I play full scale games.

Great photos, nice batrep. But with those lists, Contested Outpost is probably the LAST mission you should ever choose. The Empire player (you) should have deployed the Outpost closer to the Imperial deployment zone for even more point accumulation.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does self plays. I've played way more games against myself than against an opponent. Thanks for the batrep.

While not as interesting as playing against a real person. You can still have fun playing both sides. If nothing else it's a good way to get comfortable with the rules and what your ships can do.

Who doesn't play with themselves...

Thanks for the batrep. I would really enjoy seeing more description about each turn.

Also, I LOVE YOUR MAT WITH PRE-MEASURED DEPLOYMENT ZONES!!!

Thanks everyone! I'd normally put more description in with photos, but I was starting to get tired and it's hard to bang out text while scarfing down chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers! :D

The table top cover was a fun thing to design and build. Felt is tough to cut with accuracy, so there are some variances of 1/8 of an inch in places, but it's close enough to speed up the setup and provide the full 6x4 experience (my kitchen table is only 5x3. I posted a reasonable how to in the forums if you ever want to build one.
