What we have with WFRP 2E to 3E is not a new edition, but an entirely different game.

If you say new game system I agree. But in the totally of it, its the same setting (regardless of when the setting date is) ;-)

True, but that doesnt make it a real new edition of the game.

Take DC Heroes and DC Universe. Same setting. Different companies, different rules. No one would say DC Universe is a new edition of DC Heroes.

Now take Blood of Heroes and DC Heroes. Different companies, different settings, same rules. Most would say Blood of Heroes was a new edition of DC Heroes.

Same goes for star wars, do you considers WOTCH D20 Star Wars to be a new edition of WEG Star Wars?

but both of these games are the same setting, name and company....so see your point to be rather void

To me, and to quite a few other people, 3.0 was just as huge a change from AD&D 2e that we were familiar with. 4e, I've heard, is even more of a departure, yet people have discovered it is fun and enjoyable to play and is still D&D.

WFRP 3e still has the same setting, most of the same stats (WS and BS moved to skills instead of stats, for example), most of the same races (once halflings get back in soon it will be the same + more), I expect a lot of the careers, skills, and talents are the same (just with rule explanations for the new version). Yes, it's a bigger change than not. I don't particularly care if you call it 3rd Edition, or WFRP: FFG, or Return to Reikland (Roleplaying in Warhammer Fantasy Universe), etc.

Does it *really* matter that much whether it is a new edition of the game, or more of a new RPG? It doesn't affect whether the game will be good or bad, nor does such an appelation affect whether the new game is an improvment over the old game or not.
