I was but the learner...

By Lorne, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

The thing that caught my eye is that they mention Moraband not Korriban.

It may have been mentioned elsewhere but does this mean the the info in the CRBs canon or do they mix canon and non-canon stuff?

I know RPGs themselves can change things because they are set in a established galaxy to begin with but this just caught my attention and made me think and question some things in the now new canon.

Moraband is Korriban. Georgie didn't like the original name, so when Yoda went there at the end of the Clone Wars cartoon series he had it changed to Moraband. Last I heard, the cartoon is "mostly" cannon so any future referrences to the planet will probably be with an M and not a K.

There's no "mostly" about it. It is 100% canon. Hell, Hera is the daughter of Cham Syndulla, the Twi'lek Rebel leader in Clone Wars. Ashoka is involve in Rebels with the same voice actor. They got the same voice actor for Obi-Wan. Oh, also, the newest novel, Dark Disciple, is about Ventress, one of the best characters to come out of the show. Not sure how you could suggest that its just "mostly" Canon.

For official canon I highly recommend picking up Ultimate Star Wars from DK Publishing, it's the first all canon encyclopedia of the Star Wars universe and is basically the Bible for all future writers of Star Wars material.

Shameless plug... I did a quick review of it on my blog:

Sweet. I thought that was the case. I was just curious as I know some of the stuff is canon like Moraband for example but then we haven't had any examples of the Chiss species yet in canon.

But it does make sense they try and hew close to the canon because some stuff in these books may be used in the new canon like the Inquistors were from one of the older SW RPG lines and then put into Rebels.

Thanks to Star Wars Commander, Chiss have indeed been canonized http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Chiss/Canon. Video games produced after the formation of the Lucasfilm Story Group are canon as well. :)

I know zero about the new cartoon. Glad to hear Ahsoka survived the years though. Just got my book in the mail and was looking at the starmap. On the map its written Korriban, planet description is spelled Moraband(Korriban) though, lol. History wise they've got sections on the two KotOR games and multiple references to Tython and the Je'Daii. Really hope that stuff gets cannonized.

Oh wow how did I miss this. I play Commander from time to time but haven't come across the Chiss yet. Nice to know they reintroduced them.

What do the lightsaber rules add? What are they about?

-EF

Constructing hilt coverings. Rules are pretty simple, make adding the first attachment mod easier and add a few boons, depending on how well you roll (decreased encumbrance and more hard points, for one).

What page in the CRB is this information on?

Should be in the booklet with it. Not on the screen itself.

P. 23-24.

thank you much

I'm curious what information is included with the GM kit that lets you make "custom lightsabers." More accurately, I'm wondering if they removed stuff from the beta and put it there? The Knight-level play as well, though I thought there was wording in the product description that said it was more of an expansion of Knight-level.

Yeah, it reads like they pushed content we were expecting to be in the CRB into the GM kit instead because . . . space issues? Dunno. Was hoping to see something new.

I could understand if it was space issues, but it smacks more of "first day DLC" than anything else. I could be wrong -- I hope I'm wrong -- but we won't know for a few more days.

For the record: I was totally wrong, and glad to be so.
