The Dark Side made me do it... (any excuse)

By ExpandingUniverse, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Ok... I've just nipped out to get some shopping, not the weekly groceries, just some little bits,,, 4 pints of milk etc.. and I spotted a SW Stationary set and an A5 notebook with a Stormtrooper on the front...

Anyway when I got home they were in the bags and I'd paid for them... :o

I don't recall placing them in the trolley..

So,,, who else has picked up any SW related stuff, not rpg stuff - impulse buys - due to the trailers for SW7 or started playing EotE?

Bought a Stormtrooper notebook which I eventually gave to my nephew.

Still can't summon the urge to buy one of those Star Wars spaceship miniatures!

So anyone bought that Star Wars cereal they released recently?

My kids have bought the cereal, and my wife is stockpiling the Star Wars mac and cheese.

Yesterday I got a 1inch binderwith Vader on it at Target. I put all 3 Beginners sets in it with page protectors. Fits nicely and looks good.

I think I have all the larger-size X-Wing miniatures.

Does that count?

What if I told you that I don’t play X-Wing, I just like the cool ships?

Now does it count? ;)

I bought the SD from Armada because of that.

I bought the SD from Armada because of that.

So far, I have managed to hold off buying any of the Armada ships.

I don’t know how much longer I will be able to hold out.

Well... I bought EotE Core book.

Then I thought "I need those dice" and bought the Beginners game (since the die pack was almost as much to buy separately).

Then I thought "This looks like a really good game, I'll buy the sourcebooks too" and bought the one they had at the local store, and ordered the other three from an online shop.

And now I'm thinking "Boy, it sure would be nice to have some miniatures" and I'm contemplating buying either the entire Imperial Assault box, just for the minis, OR buying some of the "star wars rebel command" toys... unfortunately, they seem to be more expensive here in Sweden than they should be. (they're around 5 bucks in the US, and here they're more like 10... for the little 6-9 piece collections, I mean)

We are talking about family Star Wars themed Halloween costumes this year, which will, of course, require a lightsaber.

And for the trip to Disney this summer we bought each of the kids a book to read along the way. My eldest son picked out a Dr Who book, but the youngest went with The Bounty Hunter Code.

I have started down the dark path as well...

Yep, that's the same line as the Vader one I got.

Ehm... bought the Imperial Assault box today...

Oh and spent almost as much money buying paint, brushes, basepaints and varnish from the Citadel (games workshop) line in my local shop...

This is really drying up my meager (unemployed) bankaccount :(

I don’t think you’re supposed to paint these.

I think you’re supposed to leave them in the original grey plastic form.

Of course, if you want to paint them, I guess you can.

Or, you could just find old WotC plastic miniatures that are already pre-painted and use those instead. Most of those are pretty dirt cheap these days, unless you’re looking at a Collectors Item.

Naah, they're not common in Sweden.

And plenty of people have painted the IA minis... have a look in the IA forum :)

I started buy Star Wars stuff on impulse because of EotE. Movies are so hit or miss for me, I never find myself getting excited for them. My first book was Tarkin. He was such a sinister bad guy, I wish he was still alive in our campaign. Plagueis was interesting but not quite as much as Tarkin, imo. I think it's because Palpatine is such a nasty, evil, manipulative, plotting, sinister bad guy from the movies, it's hard to make him scarier. But now I know the tragedy of Darth Plagueis, The Wise.

For looks, you want Master Replicas. If you want to use them for sparring-type combat, go with Ultrasabers.

Bounty Hunters FTW! ;)

Outside of LEGO, my Star Wars impulse buys have been pretty tame; almost bought the Obi-Wan Kenobi Black Series figure last month, but decided against it. FFG has been getting more and more of my money with the books, so. . .

Although, to scratch that itch, I've been finding more and more of my Star Wars stuff I left in storage. Just recovered all of my old Action Fleet ships (including the Death Star), as well as my collection of the Star Wars CCG from 1996. Good memories, there!

So anyone bought that Star Wars cereal they released recently?

My wonderful girlfriend bought that for me. Even though Vader was on the box, I swear it had a halo around it. Or that was her. ;)

I whipped out to get a clothes horse last weekend and ended up coming home with a Lego B-Wing... hey, it was 30% off!

:)

All good impulse buys I reckon,,,just got Galactic Droids & I Am Your Father tshirts from Tesco.... and the M3-A Interceptor from a LFGS,,,, I may actually get Xwing next week, then these 'little plastic ships' (as my wife calls them) will have some use :D

I saw those in the store and thought, "Bah! Bring back C-3PO's or shut up!"

Three Star Wars coffee mugs already in the last few months. I even got the one with the logo, "The Force is Strong in this One" which has a secret button that allows you ah your friends while you mix your coffee with a little fan in the bottom.

Daughter has SW stickers everywhere and the double-bladed Rebels lightsaber. There's more but that is all I can recall at the moment.

I like the new line of "Black series" minatures they came out with (got some Stormtroopers) but dislike some of the big stuff they came out with. The very large X-wing and Stormtrooper I think are more centered on very young kids. They aren't articulated and lack hardly any details compaired to the new smaller miniatures or the original era spaceships back in the 70's and 80's.

So I play Armada at a local game store and they have a $6 table fee. No biggie, really. My rule though is that if I'm using debit or credit card, I must spend at least $10. I actually don't think they would mind with debit, but I know credit card sales cost the store some money.

Anyway, so this past Thursday, despite not having $60 to spend on game stuff this week, when I went to pay for Armada I ended up leaving with Force and Destiny CRB. I could have waited. I could have bought card sleeves, or even something else small. Nope. $60 Star Wars book.
