Tie advanced title... Really
So the raider isn't even out yet and the QQ has begun, excellent your tears power our tie advanced.
You took the words right out of my mouth.....er perhaps that would be the keys right off my keyboard...
That's going to make first person shooters hard to play then. ![]()
You could be onto something there!

When defending you may cancel all your defense dice, and then, immediately, add two (evade) results to your roll.
Your roll cannot be modified again.

Would this be too broken?
Some variation on the second feels like it might have potential, too. Might be a bit strong on Luke, but if anyone's going to be marginally OP in an X-Wing it should probably be Luke Bloody Skywalker.
Ugh, sorry. I just realised I turned the last remaining hold-out thread on the forums into "How To Fix The X-Wing".
I'd like to point out that this guys earlier posts were 'new guy' questions on the rules forum, this is legit
An effective troll will post a few normal posts just to get his post count up a bit before unleashing the troll.
Also I don't care if you're new or old here. The OP deserved the treatment he got.

I disagree because calmly saying "actually, no, because x x y " doesn't feed the troll. Wheras breaking out the napalm does.
Assuming he truly is new means you can go with the former, and it's win/win.
don't get me wrong, I love dicking over people, and can get into flame fights with the best of them. I just don't think it's needed in this case.

Was that bit sarcastic too? In my experience people here tend to think it's the other way around.

This. Australian Censorship is the well known one, British is barely censored and we love it. U.S. does appear to have more issues with censorship, or at least bleeding heart sheltered bollocks.
It remains to seen how powerful they will end up now. I do have to say I'm not a big fan of letting them get AC. It's a upgrade clearly made for 3 dice attack ships, as often they will get 2+ hits anyways, but it helps for the few times when they don't.
I think the original idea many had of just giving them a free FCS would have been better. Either that or just do the ATC upgrade as just a 1 point title for the advanced.
If Wave 7 beats the Raider to the shelves, the Advanced won't be the first two attack ship that can use Accuracy Corrector.
ATC as a title would be fine for Vader and Steele but wouldn't do much for the generics.
I like the fix. Accuracy Corrector does a good job of giving the generics a little more consistency offensively but what it also does is supports the TIE Advanced's role as a tanky fighter that is hard to remove from board. While ATC is probably going to be the most popular choice on the named pilots, the other System upgrades provide some interesting build options.

That's a point - would TIE Punishers without ordnance but with AC be any good? Overpriced?

Sithborg pointed out 4 different cases where A-Wings used prockets and made it to the final 8. So no they're not a bad idea on an A-Wing, not if you make good use of them. Also people have made great use of the A as a blocker.Pocket rockets are retarded on an A
I dunno VS. Reading this thread is a bit like he's playing hangman and every post earns him another letter, right now he's at RIB...It doesn't sounds like Ribann's voice to me, and it's lacking his MO.
Fyi retarded means good. 5 dice is brutal no matter what throws it
Get real... Asking someone to change their speech or thoughts because it tickles your feelies is a big deal... No one can cater to everyone sensitivities... The context of the word was not even in the realm of it being used as a slur... If that offends you, that sucks, but personally I think that's a little retarded...... It's a seriously offensive term to a lot of people. Asking people not to use a slur like that is not a big deal.Guys, someone would rather someone else not do something on the Internet... Quick, everyone change...Fyi retarded means good. 5 dice is brutal no matter what throws it
It's a pretty loaded term to throw around with respect to something as trivial as a game with plastic spaceships, and speaking personally, I would really rather people not use it.
Oh goody... More people who would rather be offensive than talk xwing. If you are offended, especially by something that is known to be offensive they you have the right to ask others not to infringe on your rights. The fact that this community calls you out on it is one of the few reasons I'm here. I can talk xwing minis, call out offensive or off topic threads, and the mods typically respond swiftly. If that doesn't sound like a reasonable space for your xwing to exist in, then this might not be the place for you. Don't hide behind the Internet. Either you're being offensive or you're not and if you are expect to be called out and reported.
The advanced will be a very competitive ship soon. The awing gets better with every EPT now that they also have autothrusters. 30pt Jake/tycho or even Gemmer are interceptor levels of mobility and annoyance even if they don't punch quite as hard. Jake+pTL + outmaneuver+ autothrusters gets you into and out of just about as much trouble as you care to conquer.
please don't echo chamber, thanks~!

Let's compare a cutlass squad pilot to a tempest squad pilot (PS 2 generic of each). Both cost 21 points base, but the cutlass shoots up to 24 with AC, while the tempest remains at 21 due to the title making AC free. Tempest gets barrel roll and evade, cutlass gets boost. tempest gets two extra agility dice, cutlass gets three extra hull and an extra shield. Dials are subjective, cutlass gets a better upgrade bar if you want to upgrade them.
Any math wings want to see if the cutlass is beefier than the tempest, and see if its worth the extra three points?

I think we've derailed the thread - it's not meant to be about X-Wing, we're supposed to be discussing whether "retarded" is an offensive term (it is where I come from) and more generally whether it's reasonable to ask people not to be deliberately offensive online (it is - if you have the right to be offensive then they have the right to ask you to stop, and you have the right to decline, and they have the right to castigate you, and so on).
Any math wings want to see if the cutlass is beefier than the tempest, and see if its worth the extra three points?
They're within spitting distance of one another under the most general assumptions, but the Tempest should be considered slightly ahead because it has much more powerful defensive actions than the Cutlass.

how about whisper chamber, is that allowed?

Calm down, Darth... My point was what some people think is/isn't offensive is completely subjective, and that no one can conform to everyone's sensitivities... I'll not hide behind the internet anymore than you will... My Facebook page is linked on my profile page, if you want to continue a conversation about what is or isn't offensive there in private messages, let's do it, no mysteries... I implore you not to hide behind the internet, please friend... Otherwise, may I recommend this...

Okay, let me be more frank: I have a number of family and friends who have been on the receiving end of exactly this kind of abuse. My twin brother is brilliant but severely dyslexic, and was called "retarded" by various bullies for a decade. One of my aunts has a severe intellectual disability, and has been institutionalized for most of her adult life. "Retarded" is a technically accurate description for her, but it assigns her to a diagnostic category and doesn't actually express anything important about who she is and what she's capable of. Two good friends fall on the autism spectrum, and have been called "retarded" by people who don't want to learn anything about autism or attempt to empathize with anyone who isn't neurotypical.
So "retarded" is a word that's been used fairly often to hurt and demean people I care about. That's what bothers me about it.
Now, lest you think I'm whining without purpose, let me be very clear: what I was trying to do, upthread, was politely alert you to the consequences of using the word "retarded" in public, topic-directed conversation about anything other than genuine intellectual disabilities. It's not that the liberal PC thought police are going to come and arrest you: it's merely that it makes you sound like a braying jackass. What it says to the world is that the speaker is as thoughtless as he is arrogant, and it makes me much less likely to take anything else he says seriously.
(My apologies to all who aren't interested in this part of the conversation, as well as to those who think we should be talking about X-wing on an X-wing forum. I won't post again on this topic.)

I understand where you are coming from, I have a very, very close family friend who is 29 years old and has Down Syndrome... I myself live with pretty severe Bi-Polar Disorder and test pretty highly for HFA, however, I can't expect everyone else to walk on egg shells around me or get upset any time I hear an off-hand comment someone makes like "[insert X] is acting pretty Bi-Polar."... Context and intent are everything... I see where you're coming from, it's unfortunate people have used words to denegrate others around you... But that being said, they're just words and have as much power as you allow them to have... From my perspective anyway...
Well I stop posting and it gets derailed... Anyway back to the flames please. I hope x wings get an auto destruct button that shoots astromech bits across the whole play area!
Punisher + AC doesn't really work, as the Punisher has no defensive actions. Removing action economy from your offense just means you'll be boosting a lot.

Ah, yes. No evade, and but one green die. I hadn't noticed quite how different from the bomber it really is, rather that just being a fancy version. Personally, I'm more looking forward to using TIE Bombers post Wave VII!

Bomber doesn't have evades either. It has Target Lock, Focus, and Barrel Roll.

Ah yes, although it has en extra green die, which makes focus more useful defensively, I suppose. Also, I find barrel roll a better defensive action that boost, but I imagine boost plays well with ordnance - good for getting into range.
