Won first place with this Rebel fleet!

By LukesandLadders06, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

It was our stores first tournament and we had 6 players in attendance with a 3 rebel 3 empire split! We were all excited to see How the match ups would play out. There was only one blue on blue match played, Which I think made the event even better. I like that we Got to see How the factions were able to hold up against the other. since this is a fleet build thread I won't go into detail of the other players lists or What fleets i played against. That is unless you want me to, then I will do so!

So here is the list that Got me the sweet assault frigate card:

Tournament fleet (299/300)

=========================

Nebulon-B Frigate: Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 + 20)

+ Raymus Antilles (7)

+ Salvation (7)

+ XI7 Turbolasers (6)

Assault Frigate Mark II: Assault Frigate Mk.II B (72 + 46)

+ General Dodonna (20)

+ Advanced Projectors (6)

+ Intel Officer (7)

+ Paragon (5)

+ H9 Turbolasers (8)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (39 + 13)

+ Leading Shots (4)

+ Veteran Captain (3)

+ Dodonna's Pride (6)

Nebulon-B Frigate: Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 + 7)

+ Intel Officer (7)

Objectives Assault: Advanced Gunnery (0)

Objectives Defense: Fleet Ambush (0)

Objectives Navigation: Dangerous Territory (0)

I made this list up for a straight jousting match that could maneuver well if needed.

Advanced gunnery was a no brainer with paragon. Fleet ambush rewards high ship count and punishes low fleet count. Dangerous territories was chosen so that I may fly in formation with out having to worry about obstacles and Hey maybe pick up an objective or two.

Any and all comments welcome!

I really like this list at 300 points, and your objectives are well choosen. Especially at 300, when there are still 2 ship builds out there, your 2 intel officers and the x17's should get real damage through on the joust. A few questions;

1. Did you face any lists that were running rhymer ball or multiple Y-wings? If so, how did you fare?

2. With no B-Wing bodyguards, how did you array your fleet vs. Demolisher to minimize its impact?

3. Did you find the H9's more effective than Enhanced Armaments on Paragon? If so, why, and if possible could you illustrate with an example? I think I like the choice but I generally choose the extra dice on the sides as their cost is so similar.

Again, at leat on paper I'm in love at first sight with this list. Also your screenname, which made me chuckle.

Thanks man!

1. I did not face any bombers at all during the tournament. But my initial plan against try them was to destroy their most expensive ship first if it was against rhymer, since he isn't so command dependent and kill the carrier ship as fast as I can and stay at speed 2-3 against rebels.

2. I faced demolisher in all 3 games. What I did to mitigate his effect was to fly in formation. Usually the gsd would be the flanker and alone so once I saw where they placed him I would set up in a way to trap and lure him in. I knew I had to kill that ship first every game. The assault frigate was always escorted by nebulons on either side with the cr90 flanking on Which ever side the vsds were not. I would slow roll up to demolisher and if he pounced I knew I could focus him down right away. I often used the near naked nebulon as bait, they can be super tanky with double brace.

3. I actually wanted the xi7 turbolasers! I just couldn't get the card Lol.so I went with h9 in stead because of the blue die. It worked better than expected. Being able to have an accuracy to deny brace then use Intel officer on another token. Or vice versa and Intel the brace token and accuracy another. It worked so well and made my opponents have to make tough choices. Just taking brace out of the equation when I would get the paragon black dice and focus fire was excellent! If I recall I think I did the exact amount of damage to destroy demolisher and I h9 lasered his brace and killed him. enhanced armaments is just one die that is not a for sure thing, while h9s are. A brace or evade can totally take oit that fickle red die you paid 10 points for. Now You could even imagine scoring 7 damage and then turning the blue into an accuracy and stopping the brace then intel a redirect or something... so much damage going through!

Also, to get paragon to work I would just place him parallel to the ship vertically that I wanted to double arc. I would first shoot with the side arc then add the black dice to the front, this way It's two medium sized attacks instead of one large then one small. Even though with this set up of a guaranteed brace you could put the black die or dice with concentrate fire and maybe get the awesome 10 damage super roll with an accuracy! I hope I can roll that well someday.

Thanks again for the comments.

i really like this list. do you think it will handle well vs a swarm of fighters? i know you had an initial plan but what if you saw a set of maxed out (points) of fighters?

I guess it depends on What kind of fighters and What objective we were playing. An all blue dice fighter swarm is not so scary, unless they roll amazing. I saw a vsd get finished off by 5 tie fighters! Trying not to end up in that cloud of fighters and taking out the most expensive ship would still be my tactic there. Against ryhmer and Let's say 7 bombers I would just try and stay out of medium range and try and focus down one ship at a time. With that many points spent on bombers I don't think he could have more than two ships, unless maybe they were all gsds, But then I will definitely out range them.

Rebels are easier. Just take out the carrier first and don't get stuck in a squadron ball. Must keep up your speed. I feel rebel ships can mitigate squadron forward placement better than empire ships due to speed.
