The financial reports out its not good:
Sales down 4.6%
Trade by 6.3%
Staff are getting their pay freezed.
They are reviewing kit prices so expect yet more raises.
But it's okay because Kirby paid himself 52p a share.

GW is stuck in the worst and easiest to avoid financial loop:
Sales Drop>Income Drop>Price Raise>Sales Drop More
I used to play WH40k and WHFB and remember paying around 25$ for full squad of 10-20 models and 25-30 for 5 elites like horsemans or terminators. Now we pay around for 30$ for 5-10 core troops (space marines, rank'n'file troops for FB). And people stops buying new kits.
Plus all those 100$+ kits that are almost mandatory for serious plays/collections...<sigh>
If they would at least bring old kits (full squads of 10-20 models) for new prices (around 30$)...
They've gone off the deep end since losing the Chapterhouse suit. Now they think the only way to make money is raise prices and invent words. Forget putting out a good product like a decent looking model, a codex that isn't busted, or even a full codex (I'm looking at you Mechanicus). Or how about a ruleset that isn't clunky, byzantine, and unbalanced? Generally, GW hasn't made a good decision in the last 5-10 years.

I don't know about that, re-releasing Space Hulk was a pretty good idea.
That's all I got, though.

Then FFG released Imperial Assault and walked away whistling "Anything you can do I can do better ..."
I used to play a bit of 40K. I hated it. i had zero fun with it, ever. So i sold those Daemon/witch hunters. I also played a lot of WHFB. not sure why that one was more fun. I think it was the magic phase honestly. But i think im done with it too. Not only do FFG give me what I want from a war games experience, the prices are better. GW was always expensive in my mind, but I'm glad im not playing anymore, because ive heard nothing but bad things. I don't know if I can even sell my old stuff because they made new models... knock it off GW.
Never played any WH40K but everything I read/heard about the company and their policies had me shaking my head. It seems they are going out of their way to alienate everyone in the down stream. Especially the end users. As mentioned above they've started the death spiral into oblivion. Greed and power creep.
Oh they hate the veteran players because we are moaning bugger's who do nothing but complain about poor rules and high prices, that's why they only care about selling to new players because apparently only they spend money.
They resent FLGS who dare to offer discounts which is why they make so many items GW online store only.
So given they don't advertise at all and all new people used to come from vets introducing them you now have the current situation where people actively warn people away from GW and stores no longer push their products.
But instead of changing tactics they are sticking to their guns right to the bitter end.
So i sold those Daemon/witch hunters.
Well there is your problem. Daemonhunters / witch hunters were the worst armies in the game. Grey Knights are a lot better, now that they don't have to carry the pesky Inquisition along with them. And Sisters... wellllllll... we don't talk about them any more.
And Sisters... wellllllll... we don't talk about them any more.
My 4K of Sisters and 2.5K of Guard as an Aly attachment says flame you to the warp you Heretic.
Its worth bearing in mind when looking at GWs finances that 'profits' on a whole are down because they just spend a ton of money completely rebuilding the inside and foyer of warhammer world.
If they hadnt have spent so much on that things would look a lot better.
I would not be surprised to see them pick up next year. especially given that AOS is the biggest selling release they've ever had and is doing *very* well in North America
Profits are only as high as they are because they paid less tax 4.6 mil last year 1.4 mil this year without that things would look alot worse for them.
What's more they clearly state they are in an ex-growth state where they are no longer growing but shrinking in terms of players, they are aware point of entry is too high but they have said rrp is not going down.
They've cut staff to the bone one man stores being the norm now there's no saving to be made there next year, they pulled out all the stops they released space marines yet again they released knights again they massively ramped up their release schedule and with all that things are worse than last year.
They've tried to reverse last year's disaster and done worse, the answer to there problems is obvious but they refuse to take it.
So i sold those Daemon/witch hunters.

What a ridiculous way to look at it. A lot of players are (or should that be "were") attracted to particular armies due to theme, composition, background and story rather than mere power level.
Are you seriously suggesting players should ignore their preferences and simply follow the power creep? Are you saying that's the only way players should play 40K?
I ran a Daemonhunters army myself - I really enjoyed it as well. Unfortunately I ended up selling it off once the bastardisation that was Codex: Grey Knights was released. The same happened with my Black Templars army once they were merged into Space Marines. It was a shame, but the proceeds got me a LOT of FFG stuff, so I'm not too sorry.

That is as much from the sales being down as the change in how people are buying things. Across the retail sector, not just GW, people are doing more of their purchasing online than they are in stores. I know what I want to buy, why should I make a trip to a store to be hassled by a pushy salesman? I can order it at home in my underwear in much less time while being a lot more comfortable.
I used to work for Future Shop in Canada, which was the Canadian version of Best Buy. In January of 2014, they went through a drastic restructuring because of the changing of the retail environment which result in me losing my job. It was only 6 months later that they closed how many stores across the country? People do not want to buy from stores, so it doesn't make sense to GW to keep a store running a full capacity if people are just going to order from their website anyways.
I mean, hell, when I want to buy something, I look up the prices on the GW site before going to my LGS. But the reason I go to the LGS to buy is not because I have to. I do it because I have been going to the store for 16 years, it is an independent retailer, and he lets people play for free with the 2 dozen tables he has available. Add in that it is the centre of the gaming community in this city, and I have no problem supporting a local business.
So i sold those Daemon/witch hunters.

The inquisitorial armies were terrible. So it is a safe assumption to make that if someone didn't enjoy playing them, then they may have enjoyed playing something that was a better army. Truth be told, the fluff for both of them was sub-par. Inquisition should never have fought along side the Grey Knights and Sisters should never have been included in Witch Hunters because they aren't a part of the inquisition.
