New factions in X-Wing? WWYD?

By EeiddKlabe, in X-Wing Off-Topic

The game is so big on maintaining a set timeline, but it already doesn't pass the fluff test as you can have biggs flying escort with a kwing...

No to mention having rebel on rebel, imperial on imperial, etc matches doesn't make sense either.

I think the game is fun enough that they should just throw the timeline out the window, and just make it a fun game with multiple factions and ships.

It's been done before in video games like galactic battleground and battlefront.

Just add 4-5 new factions: republic, confederacy, resistance and/or new republic, and first order.

If players are against it (like some are currently with scum), they can just stick with rebels and imperials.

timeframe=/=timeline

oops

That's kinda what im getting at with Greedo. I'm not against Greedo, but I know the match ups aren't always going to make 'sense'. not all fights will be cinematic.

I agree with the above.

Many characters meet each other even though some died before the other appeared. Some have become legends instead of EU/Canon/whatever.

I understand episodes aren't popular, but some of the ships are still usefull.

Then there is the Cloud Car. It is one very Iconic fighter to me.

So what it flies through clouds, I would love to throw it in a game :)

I really like the idea of scenario/campaign packs with civilian ships, defense satellites, space stations, turret towers, etc.

There's really no need for more super obscure EU factions when there's 6 new movies, Rebels, and a possible Netflix series all on the way, all of which will be adding plenty of cool new ships for FFG to use. and no one's going to need to check wookieepedia every time a new expansion is announced.

many have pointed out that Disney will be a constant source for new ships. Even if they are taken from EU content, once they are in episode 7 and beyond, its all feature film canon. If they still plan on rolling out a new star wars film every year or so, FFG wont run out of content.

They can only make films so fast though.

I always thought it would be cool to see some expansions that take the battle closer to the surface. T-47 snowspeeders, 74-Zs bikes, AT-ATs, etc.

i would like to see those too as i mentioned above, but we would need special rules. I don't think it would be all that hard to implement though.

As for the speed of film release, I'm sort of counting on the fact that the game's expansion schedule will slow inevitably anyway. We'd be looking at 1-2 waves a year plus any revamps/rereleases of old ships.
