But yes. And statistically: Show me the lambdas. There won't be any. Go ahead. Argue all you want against this. But back it up with your numbers in a few months. Even now, the lambda has like a 1% showing.
Wave VII: No Hope for the Lambda Shuttle?
And rightly so. What is a shuttle supposed to do in a dogfight?
Rely on the rest of his squad if (when) an enemy gets behind him?
Why I ran Soontir with 3 naked shuttles. Massive hp pool. Solid attack dice. **** dial.
Soontir (plus other shuttles) guarding flanks and rears.
Worked reasonably well about a year ago. No more though. ![]()

having trouble with people getting behind you? try
OGP x2 Ion cannon 24
and
OGP x2 with Ion cannon Tactician 26
Emperor Palpatine takes two crew slots, so barring epic games imperials can only play him on the lambda and the decimator thus far. I haven't played any proxy games with him, so I don't have any authority on how much impact he has on the game. Have you any? At 8 points he is a significant investment, and I think we will see him most often on chira-fel or chira-whisper build. A fat lambda shuttle + 2 interceptor pilots sounds fun so I will try that in a few games.
I've proxied Palpatine a few times and, so far, I like the shuttle as a carrier for him.
I tried the Soonts/Carnor/OGP build in the preview article and it's actually pretty solid. Since Palpatine has unlimited range, you can slow-roll the shuttle with alternating stops and greens and bait your opponent to come after him while your Interceptors flank. Like any Interceptor list, things start to go sideways if you lose a ship too early, but Palpatine is decent insurance against green dice failure.
I haven't tried him on a Decimator yet, but I'm reluctant. Decimators are already pricey, and locking out two of your crew slots forces a hard choice for the remaining one. Isard + Palpatine should keep him around the longest, but you can get Rebel Captive + Gunner for the same cost as the Emperor, which is a tough call.
Call me when you can fly the YV-666 in Imperial lists.
So basically, you are telling me that it is the Rebels who are doomed Mwahahahah ![]()

oh you did not just
I like the "Virgo" Title on Xizor...
I'd always taken him for a Taurus, myself.
The Lambda is a shuttle... it should be outclassed by just about anything!
Just sayin'...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Palp's not worth 8 points, but that's just me. People are probably going to get confirmation bias with him because people see that changed die more than they see what they didn't get with 8 points, which is a lot.

Win with it if you fly it right. Fcs + EU is basic enough and it's still cheaper than a YV. True buzzsaw with EU is a monster. My friends kill it first on sight because they know if it lives through the first exchange it will come back to haunt them. I'm a shuttle guy though.

The problem with the Lambda isn't that it's outclassed by the HT (It's quite clearly not btw), it's that literally every build the **** thing will face will be somthing like Soontir + Deci. Decently mobile small arc based ships already present a problem for a Lambda, but at least the Lambda will get to shoot a few times before the thing it's shooting at gets past it. A Turret will just 4 straight derp right past it.
I'm either 0-2 or 0-3 against palpatine, but I still don't think he's worth the points. He did have a factor in the games no doubt about it, but changing one single dice is not worth 8 points, not to mention the fact he takes up 2 crew slots to do so.
For people who take him, I rather take my chances on that one die change every round not having as big an effect as the 8 points they could have spent on other upgrades.

I can't really see any validity in these points given that freighters (YT-1300, YT-2400) are more maneuverable and agile than a warship (VT-49). Why produce warships, the empire should just convert all of its cargo haulers and defeat the rebel uprising. I think a personnel transport should be faster and more maneuverable than a freighter, but to each their own.

The problem with the shuttle has always been that it doesn't have a hard turn that isn't red. It looks great on paper, and when it works it is awesome, but very often what happens is the enemy gets past it and then just sits behind it until it dies. When I fly the lambda shuttle I literally have to worry about any ship getting behind it and killing it. The YV has more health, a better dial, a better arc, better pilot abilities, the lambda shuttles signature move, a cannon slot and Bossk has an EPT. The ships that cannot reverse include the decimator, the HWK 290, the YV-666 and the lambda shuttle. To mitigate this problem the decimator has a turret, the HWK has a turret and the YV-666 has a 180 degree arc. All these ships can also do at least one hard turn that isn't red, whereas the shuttle has the most limited arc and dial. With that being said I will be bringing two lambdas to an upcoming tournament, where I can cackle gleefully as I say "Vader."
Old complaint, but I still say it every time I fly a shuttle, "this thing should have a rear auxiliary arc." even if it had been a guns 1 thing. Or if you had to spend the e points for anti pursuit lasers to use them. Or you could equip your cannon slot as the tail gun. Anything.

I feel you there, it's too bad aux/out-of-arc shots are just primary instead of primary minus 1.

How about no, and just... stop.
Especially for Auxiliary arc as they can still be dodged (unless you are incompetent). The only advantage Auxilary arcs have over 360 primary weapon turrets is that they have a large arc for things like Outmaneuver and tactician. You must really hat flying against firesprays. You must seriously hate boba fet if you want to drop the rear shots to 2 firepower.
Edited by MarinealverAs far as I'm concerned the Firespray should have been sitting on 4 primary from the get-go, though.

and so should the X-wing
Plenty of things ought to have happened. In expressing regret for one of them, I neglected to list them all, causing your misinterpretation for which I apologise.

They'd need to come with some cardboard tokens for the pilots, with a printed secondary firing arc on them.
They could go imaginative and release a generic large ship upgrade with, I don't know, the Punishing One when it comes out, that is like
Rear Fire Cannons
Large ship only. Cost 3.
You cannot equip this upgrade if you already have an auxiliary firing arc, already can attack out of your firing arc, or your agility score is higher than 1.
Your pilot token may have a rear fire arc overlay.
And then the rear fire arc overlay is a transparent plastic square with a rear firing arc printed on it, to be put on top of a large ship pilot token. It could have a slightly different shape for an arc, like smaller angle of fire or whatever is considered right for the cost.
Edited by AzrapseHow would you lock it properly? There generally isn't enough to the base edges to hold it properly, and hooking it over the back of the base would be a no-no.
