I play almost exclusively Empire for about 2 years now. I have played a few games recently as Scum in an attempt to branch out. I am playing tomorrow night and would like to know which Rebel list is the most fun to play? To me fun is tricky, challenging, competitive, and somewhat frustrating to my opponent.(he's a good friend and we are always trying new things to bug each other in good fun). I have been reading on here forever about all the different versions of Fat Hans and Super Dashes and Coran Horns, etc. I think I would like to try something like that maybe. I have all the Rebel ships but have never really used them. I have 1 of each YT and at least 5 of each small ship, except for I only have one hwk. So what is your favorite build for Rebel? I am leaning towards Dash as I have never even opened the box, but I could be swayed. What say you?
What's your favorite Rebels list to run?
If you want to big your friend try something like:
Chewbacca, Push the Limit, rec spec, jan Ors, engine upgrade, title
Leebo, determination, outrider, mangler,
Fill in points as desired.
2 turrets, lots of hull/shields, highly maneuverable, basically crit-proof. Quite annoying
Edited by piznitI've been using this build and found it fun and seems to hold its own. Only one loss with it Due to tweaking, but have had lots of success with it, I think it is becoming my favorite rebel build
Tarn
R7
Fletchet
Gold Squadron
R3-A2
Btl title
Ion cannon turret
4 bandit
The ywing is great to help get some board control. It's not there for dmg, but stress and if lucky ion something.
Usually has a pile of stress on it, but that's ok, that means it's doing its job.
The Z95 are blockers and meat shields. Hard to ignore. They can die quick, buy I've seen them become very resilient.
Tarn is your end game piece. R7 has saved him a lot. Sure there are times it bit me in the butt (opponent rerolling crits lol) but in some games (and in more than one) R7 has prevented 5-7 dmg.
Goes great when opponent ship(s) are stressed or blocked by z95.
I tend to keep them in two small squad. 2 z with Tarn and the other with the y, and depending if my opponent is flying a jousting list or dodging list I'll put the ywing in front of the two z, or in the back.
I find this way your ships are not all on top of each other and spreads them out more over the board giving you more area to block/stress/ion
I do keep the two squads fairly close to one another in set up , usually a couple base lengths apart. Not one on each side of the board
Edited by Krynn007I'd stay away from the meta but thats just my personal style of challenging myself against the meta, my top 3 rebel list are:
All time favorite:
Keyan + Opportunist
Roark + Ion
Cracken + Swarm Tactics
Blue Squad
PS, 12, 8, 8, 7 (Keyan) I've been playing this list since wave 3-wave 6 it's changed alot but I've had tons of fun and a really good record
My swarm:
2 Daggers
4 Talas
Thats 6 PS4s its perfect for Large ship hunting, fighting swarms and crushing the BBBBZ list, it's pretty forgiving since you can move/shoot in any order and theres no clear target. Most go for the B-wing only to deal with 2 rounds of 4 R1 Talas
My latest list
Cracken + Swarm Tactics & Hull Upgrade
Blue Squadron B-Wing
Garven
Dutch + Ion Turret & Title (Optional)
It's a very synergistic list, PS 8,8, 6, 6 with everyone but Cracken having TL+F. Since this list focuses on synergy Cracken provides redundancy if Garven/Dutch bump and get no actions. I usually keep Dutch & Garven together will the other paired.
enjoy
The best rebel lists are the ones that go pop when facing the might of the Imperial Navy
Mowahaha
Yes feed my Defenders rebel scum Mowahaha.......
Jake (PTL, VI, test pilot, prockets, thrusters) [33]
Greenie (PTL, refit) [20] - add calculation if desired
3 Redshirt prototypes (Refit) [45]
[total: 98/99]
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
this list lives and dies on your maneuvering, has routine driven RAC + Soonts and Han + Horn and even Aggressors into the ground, and can really piss people off when nothing dies (something close to dying? run it away
) and with just the sheer, almost excessive amount of blocking it can do
If you want something casual...
REBELS

PILOTS
Luke Skywalker (29)
X-Wing (28), Veteran Instincts (1)
Biggs Darklighter (29)
X-Wing (25), R2-D2 (4)
Gold Squadron Pilot (21)
Y-Wing (18), R2 Astromech (1), Bomb Loadout (0), Seismic Charges (2)
Rookie Pilot (21)
I built this on a whim. "battle of Yavin" would be a better name for it lol.
Although I normally run an AABB list, but that's being tweaked right now, as I am starting to learn the value PTL on jake farrel.
Edited by FlyingAnchorsI still like the Triple BlockORS list, but I'm a massive troll.
It does the following:
3x Outer Rim Smuggler (ORS)
+ Navigator
+ Intel Agent
+ Anti Pursuit Lasers
This leaves you with 99 points, and hopefully initiative, as you'll be adjusting your dial to be right where they're about to run into your, dealing themselves damage, losing actions, and being unable to shoot at their tormentor, whilst your ORS have their actions, and turrets so that you can fire at the paralyzed suckers from out of their arcs, while juggling them around.
Its abolutely hilarious, though takes a few turns forethought to get the combo to actually start (as you and your victim need to be going in vaguely the same direction).
I have fun running the three top Bs loaded out but I think that's going to get replacdd by A-wings. Flew them Sunday and had a blast! Lost both games but watching my opponent try and corner Tycho was worth it. The look on his face when I arc dodged to get behind Mux at R1 and one-shotted the HWK was priceless. Also dragging a load of stress behind him is kind of cool to watch as the pile grows and he still takes actions.
I still have a lot of fun with the classic Wes-Opportunist "Triforce" list:
Wes Janson (Veteran Instincts, R3-A2) [32]
my main Rebel list at the moment is Double E-Wings
Corran
- R2-D2, Protons, FCS, Predator & Hull Upgrade
Etahn
- R2 Astro, Protons, PtL, Adv. Sensors & Engine Upgrade
comes in at 98 pts so has some initiative wiggle room. In meta terms probably as effective as a chocolate fireguard I admit but it's a fun list for me to fly & have had reasonable success with it
Doesn't really fit what you're looking for, but I have the most fun with small ships...
3A
BXXZZZ
Any mixture of the above two
Leebination with escorts and Chewie with BTLs have served me well, but nothing's more fun with large ships than Jake or Tycho as escorts.
My next goal is to start flying the YT-2400 without Outrider. I've wanted to for several weeks now, but I haven't been able to play :/
As you can tell, I don't care much for Turrets or two large ship builds. Bad for a guy that likes Rebels the most like myself.

5 with prockets each looked fun, but this? *sigh* *takes out wallet*
And for those that have 5 A-Wings, what does your expansion spread look like? 1 RA and 4 A-Wing Exp?
Edited by ScojoPanic Attack! is fun to run. It does well against IGs and other 2 ship lists. It doesn't do so hot against swarms. Recently I've had the title on the Y-Wing and while I missed having the 360 attack it does make it easy to get a stack of stress on your target.
3 Blue Squads w/E2+Tactician
1 Gold w/BTL-A4+R3-A2+Ion Cannon Turret
Most fun? Tycho, Jake and a green. All Autothrusters, all a missile of sorts, all PTL.
Season to personal taste with your remaining points and have the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Do you have three A-Wings?

2 aces, 3 expacs
1.) because it lets Jakes and Greenie stand out from the fodder (who are all conveniently color coded
)
2.) aces only has 3 refits and you need 4, plus more if you want to roll with five refits (3 GSPs w/thrusters, 2 protos w/thrusters)
