I don't see how you can't see that Plasma Torpedoes are an amazing upgrade over the Proton Torpedoes. Cheaper (which is the key). And a good chance to do extra damage against some very annoying things that are beefy.

the -1 point cost is really the only concrete advantage

the extra shield damage is highly situational (need to have shields to punch through, so the only ship you're getting huge returns on are B-wings never mind the 8 to 13 hull fat PWTs) and you're losing out on the quasi-focus modification that stacks so well with re-rolls/TLs (ala Redline)

without a pilot that can modify it ala Redline or Horton, plasma torps still suck and you're better off just using your normal, modified attack.

I'd like to see what can be done to get Latts Razzi in there with Xizor. She'd fit if you drop ID on Xizor and K4 on the YV-666. I'm not sure that that'd be worth doing though.

I guess you could drop the two Z-95s for either Serissu, a Kihraxz, or an Autoblaster Y-Wing to fit those upgrades back in.

The ideal situation will always be TL/Focus, but the same can be said for normal attacks as well. But, the TL/Focus situation is not as good in the Proton Torpedo vs Plasma Torpedo situation. It is why Concussion Missiles were stronger than Proton Torpedoes.

And honestly, the extra damage is only icing on the improved missile. Especially when you will have someone like Miranda flying around.
