I have 6 (a half squadron) of all small based ships (yes including tie advanced, defenders, star vipers etc). The only exceptions are chaff (Tie/ln & Z-95's, of which I have a full squadron) and HWK's (which i class as support ships and have 2 of).

I also have 2 of each large based ship and 1 of each huge ship...

I know... OCD... ... This is the way I have collected all the way through...

I am not... I REALLY WON'T... I can't... end up with a full squadron of each small ship.... (gods it'll happen, i know it will ) My will is weak..

The ships don't. What deforms are the vacuum formed plastic containers the ships come in I use to store my ships.

I have a lot because I like for my pilots to have their own unique ships.....lol...I love this game!!!

I somehow never managed to pick up a 2nd Falcon even though I started the game right when double falcon became the huge thing. I will prob trade the still in box E-wing and Phantom as Ive never felt the need to run 3 of those at once and I only bought the extras as tournament entry fees.
