Looking for a specific type of Squad Builder.

By Doctor X, in X-Wing

Don't know if it exists or not, so asking here.

My roommate has cerebral palsy and I want to start playing X-Wing with him, however, manipulation of small objects is difficult if not impossible for him. (We've already sorted out that I'll handle the rulers and hold the dial facing him and turn it til he tells me to stop.)

Obviously, this extends to having to sort through cards. And I'd like him to be able to put together some squads of his own, however, he'd have to use my ships and we face the card-sorting issue again.

So, what I'm looking for is a squad builder where I can just input what ships I have and then displays just the cards and mods etc. that I own so he can decide for himself.

Is there one out there that fits this specific a need?

Fab's Squadron generator seems to fit the criteria you're looking for. It doesn't really display the upgrade cards as a pool, but it does keep track of the minis you entered and the associated cards and won't let you choose anything you don't own.

X-Wing Squadron Builder has the option to enter the expansions you own and then choose one of these two options:

Enable collection - If you want the Squadron Builder to grey out components that you don't have or have already used. You must also check it if you want to generate random squadrons from your collection.

Share collection between all tabs - If all tabs share your collection between them. Otherwise, each individual tab will be able to use all components

Thanks Radarman5. I was just about to post that.

Anyway, all three of the squadron builders mentioned can be used with just the mouse. If he is able to use mouse keys for accessibility, I guess any one of them should be usable.

I think YASB probably has the biggest hit areas on its buttons, though, so maybe go with that. My squadron builder (the one in the quote) has some pretty small buttons that might prove frustrating...

Cheers

If an Android app is in the realm of possibility, Try Startactics on the Play store - it allows you to input your collectiion, has pictures of all the cards, and is otherwise just a really well-done and slick squadron builder. Otherwise, I agree with others in suggesting YASB.

Thanks. Got some good ones. Follow-up question: Is there a squad builder that can help for escalation tournaments? Got one coming up.

geordans. yet another.

honestly, youll both probably also benefit if you show him 1 or 2 cards to try and ask him which he likes better.
