Strongholds of Resistance is on the boat

By kaosoe, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

So has there been any official word on why Strongholds and the F&D adventure have been stuck on a boat so much longer than the normal time?

Pirates. Aliens. Nazis. Zombies. Submariners. Pirate alien Nazi zombie submariners.

The...officialness of that explanation is dubious at best :P

I'll take that as a no; then.

I'm starting to wonder if it was listed as done being printed and 'on the boat' prematurely.

Argh. Angry bump.

Maybe the boat sank?

Maybe the boat sank?

Maybe there are a bunch of Somali pirates who have just had their eyes opened to the wonderful world of roleplaying.

Those pirates must be huge Star Wars fans if they are attacking ships between China and the US. Like HUGE fans considering how out of the way it would be for them.

Maby it's not Somali pirates... maby it's Hawaiian pirates? :D

No. No. Somali pirates. The long route explains the four month delay, and the pirate attack explains why the boat will never show up!

The article for the Commander Book does mention Strongholds is coming out...."soon," so there's that.

But that's not soon enough!

Strongholds was bumped to shipping yesterday.

It's finally shipping, hallelujah!

Woohoo!

Anyone know what the usual lag time is for the product to be available in their online store? I've got some store credit with FFG I need to use up...

I'm glad its coming I just wish it had arrived before much of my usual fun budget was being shifted to Christmas shopping.

2 weeks? Give or take, its a very nebulous number depending on how far they are shipping out to stores. I haven't really payed attention before as I haven't ever had to. Gatekeeper will probably be a good measuring stick.

Who wants to bet Mask of the Pirate Queen gets bumped to shipping on the 8th?

It gets especially dodgy in timings since they're shipping from a warehouse to shops all around the world, and the Europe/Asia market is a fair bit of travel time away. Still, not too long!

And why the 8th for Mask of the Pirate Queen?

Just a hunch, but Gatekeeper was bumped to shipping on the 25th, and exactly a week later Strongholds was bumped too, and if the two weeks estimate for shipping is approximately accurate, it means Mask will ~possibly~ be in stores the week of thanksgiving, just in time for Black Friday sales. Of course, if the shipping estimate is longer, say closer to three weeks, this puts Strongholds in stores in time for the shopping rush around thanksgiving. Of course this all only applies to the American market as far as I know Europe/Asia are not as big on the whole Thanksgiving holiday.

Just a theory, but we'll see.

Perhaps, but I seem to remember MotPQ being announced relatively recently so it could be a while. Then again that's a well thought-out theory, especially in the context of Black Friday.

Well, I posted another theory somewhere in one of these threads whose topic is the delay in releasing books. And while I don't remember exactly when Mask was announced, that theory was that they would string the releases out to drop Keeping the Peace (which in my opinion is the one the greatest number of people are anticipating and consequently will buy) a week or two before Christmas, which also gels with the TFA premiere date.

Well, Gatekeeper is in stores (or, my store at least) today...

I just wish it were last week. The PCs go to Polis Massa on Friday, and all I have is the wookieepedia entry which says the 501st destroyed that place on or about the time of the Battle of Yavin. So I'd like to know what FFG says about it.

Of course... The PCs could take longer than I expect them to in dealing with their two missions and not quite make it to Polis Massa during Friday's session. Perhaps some event could delay their trip...

I've been doing this to delay them going to Mon Cala for months. I had one of their Obligations play out and a lead on a person of interest draw them away. We're probably going to be wrapping up the arc next week and playing a four-session Shattered campaign, so that should give me plenty of time.

I hope.

Hey, Shattered. I backed that, in fact I'm the guy that created the Florvana.

Does anyone have the book yet, this includes the freelancers under NDA for this one I just want to know that someone has indeed got it.

Still waiting by the mailbox for mine. Soon, though. Very soon. I can't wait to see what the final cut looks like, and all the art for places I described. Plus, you know, I'm really curious to read the sections I didn't work on. The UPS truck can't get here soon enough. I was walking the dog today, and saw the truck out there, and stalked the driver a little bit. I didnt' want to be too far away from my front door if he had my book! Sadly, it was a false alarm today, but am filled with hope for tomorrow. Or the next day. Or next week some time. UGH.
