Is it helpful? No.
Does anyone here have an answer? No.
Am I going to ask anyways? Yes!
Where is my book? My poor mouse is getting worn out from checking 'Upcoming' 100 times a day.
I found a photo of the actual boat used to ship some of the books... Also, I think they forgot to supply him with a compass...and the captain lacks any sense of direction.

No, this is the captain:

So that's what James May has been doing since Top Gear UK went off the air.

Well, he needs to make his money somehow...
I wonder if the books more recently updated to "On the Boat" (Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, Keeping the Peace, Mask of the Pirate Queen) will arrive before my pre-ordered Strongholds of Resistance. I guess why I'm so disappointed is that I did a pre-order with multiple items that we all supposed to drop in the same quarter to save on shipping, so my Desperate Allies is held up as well. At this rate, I won't be surprised if the next unannouced career book also beats it to release.
I apologize to everyone, but this will have to become my new weekly outlet for complaining. My wife is tired of hearing it.

I prefer the physical product, and I'm likely not alone.

I'd buy both, honestly. Hopefully with the rush of new star wars interest, Disney might consider different wording for their licenses; I propose there are mountains of cash to be made.

I don't think mountains of cash is to be made. If mountains of cash were involved they would make a pdf happen. The lack of a pdf (or any e format really) I think supports the idea that the amount of money to be made from pdfs likely doesn't outweigh the cost of having to change it. Remember this would have to be done between Disney, FFG, and EA. It wouldn't be a cheap process and in the end the cost of having to redo the licenses would be passed to us, the consumer, which may disincline people from buying them.
Based on how Disney acts .... if there's money to be made they will do it. Their inaction on the issue leads me to conclude that there isn't money to be made.
I don't know, I find humans don't often work on what makes the most logical sense.

Well, the one product I have in PDF, th Force and Destiny Beta, is the only one I didn't buy a hard copy product. If it was anything but a Beta, I probably would have gotten a hard copy too. However, I doubt everyone would buy both.
Edited by HappyDazeThe big problem with PDFs is how ridiculously easy it is to distribute the material to others who don't pay for it.
Now I'm sure none of the fine upstanding citizens on these forums would ever do such a thing, but what's to stop one person from buying the PDF and then posting or sharing a link to it in any number of ways?

Them making pdf copies wouldn't increase the level at which the game is pirated. This idea has been debunked time and time again in other mediums. And I can assure you all the books are already pirateable if you know where to look. So the only thing FFG is missing out on is sales from people who would buy them legit. Those that would pirate them already are.

"If you know where to look" being the key phrase. Pirated copies of anything are not easily and readily available to your average player. Legit digital copies? A hell of a lot more accessible.

If you say so. I fail to see how it becomes easy to find those pirated copies after FFG makes them. Which is beside the point, your initial points that pirating would increase if FFG sold them is wrong. All the books are already in PDF format and easily findable if you're into pirating. FFG making them (which they can't legally do anyway) doesn't suddenly make the task easier.
People who want them bad enough to pirate them already have them. And it's insanely easy to pirate media these days.

I need my physical product to be able to slap people like you with it ![]()
PDF's are not the end-all-be-all of everything.
Sure, they're nice to have, but they're definately not as nice as a physical product.

Not only that, but the amount of money lost on easily pirated products would be something that speaks against doing it.

Well, it has been 0 day since the last how long is it going to take these physical products to move into the proper locations. XD
I am just stating the obvious.
So has there been any official word on why Strongholds and the F&D adventure have been stuck on a boat so much longer than the normal time?

Pirates. Aliens. Nazis. Zombies. Submariners. Pirate alien Nazi zombie submariners.

And, as stated, that myth has been debunked. Napster lead to an increase in music sales. Paizo, WotC, Steve Jackson Games, Pinnacle and even FFG do make PDFs of the books they print available to their clients (go look at RPGnow). Some will pirate; for a lot of others the digital versions are easier to legally obtain than the physical product. There's no time at a printer or on a ship or going through the various distribution channels, so 1 copy of 5 million copies are just as easy to sell.
