Assault Frigate less than whole :(

They've shipped my fix already! I'll have to wait a bit being on the other side of the planet, but WOW that was quick!

Are they just sending the plastic attachment?

I don't know - it's status is set to 'shipped' but it does not say what has 'shipped'

I'm assuming it's just the part ... it would make sense for them to have spares on hand for situations like this.

Just out of curiosity, is there a recommended glue for use on the ships? My one VSD had its stand connection fall off the ship when disassembling it.

From what I've seen, I'd imagine any kind of standard household super glue would do the trick. But I haven't tried it myself...

Funny you mention that. Once the first one fell off one of my VSD's I pulled off the rest from my other ships (except the whale, it doesn't quite fit on the stand without it). I feel it makes the ships look sharper without that little bulge of plastic sticking out from the bottom, and the stands still fit just fine without the connector.

Yes, Superglue works fine.

If you want to be more sure, then you can use something like Hot Glue - as long as the glue is completely internal - not so hard to do with a stand connector - but Superglue will work fine. Might mist it up a bit.

Yeah, was thinking standard Testors model glue would work... Just need to find it. Or super glue. More likely to be found.

Without knowing specifically, I'd probably say no to Testors Model Glue - A lot of those are Plastic Cements, and depending on the Join, and the type of Plastic, will either Weld, or do absolutely nothing.

90% of my Gluing these days is done by Krazy Glue "Advanced" Formulae, a little orange thing I pick up from my Supermarket for less than $5...

Always try contacting FFG first. At worst, you'll have a repairable AFII. At best, you'll have two.

Personally, I have had great results with kwick lock gel (available at most hardware stores), used in combination with Zip kicker spray (available in most hobby or game stores). Instant cure, with far less holding/gluing to my fingertips.

The keyhole just came off one of my Vics just before I left for vacation, so I will let you know my results as soon as I get home.

Thanks for all the input!

I had to head up to my local Harbor Freight for a garden hose (stupid thing burst while flushing the little lady's car radiator). I picked up a cheap tube of their crazy glue. It seems like it took, but I probably won't assemble it back on a stand until later this week.

I think they used some bad glue because my friend's VSD was missing the plastic connector that is attached underneath the model.

I say glue because I had pieces fall off my models and it seems possible that a piece falling off could cause it to be left out of the package. My AFII had it's tail fall off, my VSD had both it's antenna fall off, and the other one had the connector fall off too, but I managed to fix all of it with a dab of plastic cement.

The same thing happened to my VSD, but fortunately it stuck to the stand so I didn“t lose it. Definitely some bad glue jobs on the VSDs.

Mine fell off after a month or so. It still works fine unglued so I've not re-glued it... Yet...

The tail is not glued.

Mind = Blown

On the bright side, that would make it easier to repaint.

Im Sure they will send you a new Asault Fish. I had an xwing with a laser missing a few yars back. sent FFG a picture and they sent a whole new xwing!

Of course you'll be a plastic stand short but you could still use the other one. Or make it into debris!
