Since the dawn of the Plano 5231, x-wing players have rejoiced at its perfect ability to hold your x-wing stuff intact. There are many other different cases used, but for the most part the plano is THE go-to case.
I think I've found the perfect case for Imperial Assault skirmish!
Here it is:

The Sterilite 1402 divided case.
This case holds EVERYTHING you need for a day of skirmish at your FLGS! Assuming you don't bring more than 1 or 2 different armies that is.
I removed the two long sections of divided case, and moved the 6 part section to one end. This allows all the large map tiles to be stored in the left side, as well as larger items like my tablet, and the victory points counter.
As for the 6 divided sections I have these items:
Upper left: 3d printed boxes, terminals, and doors (From Etsy)
Upper right: All skirmish command cards - I could see leaving these at home if you want more space
Middle left: My army! Folded in a couple of soft foam liners. A secret of course for tomorrow's store event
Middle right: Cards don't fit flat, but they do fit at an angle. Underneath them is my command deck of 15 cards, and some other tokens in a small bag to keep them propped up at that angle.
Lower left: Dice, hit counters, initiative token (3d assembled acrylic from Litko), and eventually other various acrylic tokens
Lower right: all the small map tiles needed
I don't worry too much about chipping paint or anything on my painted minis, but you could very easily put in some foam in place of a couple compartments and easily store an army. The only thing it doesn't easily store is an assembled AT-ST. I'll have to find another box for that, but I do keep one that can break down just in case (it does fit in this case broken down).
In another post I put in what map tiles are now legal, if you carefully stack map tiles you can fit them all into this case. On occasion I also bring one mission to play on star wars night at our FLGS, it all fits in here as well. And when its all buttoned up? I can fit the rules too! Stuff doesn't slide around, but I wouldn't pack it TOO full of all the documentation.
I found this case at a local Hobby Lobby for $12, but I'm sure it can also be found online. Happy skirmishing!
