Rebel 300 build - One of each !

By MoffZen, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello guys !

So, today I've tested a Rebel Fleet which incidentally brought at least one ship/squadron of each type ! It was a narrow loss because I got greedy at the end and went for a Gladiator which I couldn't destroy instead of going for his bombers (so I went from a 60ish points lead to losing all my squadrons by 9 points).

I'd love your help to fine tune it and pick objectives that would suit the fleet well :)

Admiral : Dodonna

Assault Frigate Mark II B

-- Gallant Haven

-- Dodonna

Nebulon B Escort

-- Adar Tallon

Corvette CR90 A (44)

Luke Skywalker

X-Wing

X-Wing

Dutch Vander

A-Wing

B-Wing

Luke and Dutch were escorted by the Neb while the rest of the squadrons were by the Gallant Haven. I got too aggressive with the Gallant Haven and delivered it right in front of the enemy Victory which took 2 turns to kill it (note to myself, be slower early game :P ).

Luke scored a critical blow on the Victory and I picked to reduce the speed to 0. Not being able to use defense token, it went down really really quickly !

Can't wait to see your recommendations in terms of objectives !

How effective is Gallant Haven? I can't Imagine a situation where all my fighters would stay within range one of it once they engage the enemy.

I've never used it just curious how it worked out for you?

What speed do you set Gallant Haven at? Do you try to circle the enemy ships with it and just keep the fighters near it just in case?

It was my first game with the title and I found it completely amazing to be honest :)

It didn't survive long due to poor planning on my part (starting at speed 2, planned for speed 3 to try and speed to a runaway course from the Victory but ended up right in his front arc :/ ). So, for the most part it was indeed in range 1 of all my fighter-bombers and over the course of the few turns he was alive actually allowed to save roughly 6-7 points of damage they would have gotten.

The way I see it is to shelter the squadrons until :

1) The enemy fighter screen has been depleted

2) The target ship is in range of two firing arcs from the Haven plus the squadron command

It also works wonders against anti-fighter barrages from ships that only have 1 blue dice, meaning that your squadrons will never take a damage from it. If you move at speed 2, you can easily keep up with your squadrons in the 1 rangeband. The idea isn't to activate 2 squadron commands in a row to throw your ships too far that they can't be caught (unless you expect them to win whatever engagement you throw them at :) ).

I've found Gallant Haven to be very good too. I've tried to keep it at at least speed 2 - ideally 3, with 3-4 squadrons of x-wings. It is really very good at dealing with other fighters.

@OP: I've run a similar fleet and found that putting Leia on the Corvette makes the whole fleet very flexible. It does relegate it to somewhat of a support role, but the benefits of throwing out just the right command to the AF or Neb-B make it worth it.

@Artifix : This is a very interesting suggestion ! I've always wanted to run Leia so I might give it a go :) I just wishe I had the Tantive IV title to go with her, you could could double up on the effectiveness : Choose the order and change it with Leia, then give the token of the same order to the ship.

I've tuned the fleet a little bit and selected 3 objectives, can't wait to get your opinion on these !

Assault Frigate Mark II B (72)

-- Gallant Haven (8)

-- Dodonna (20)

Nebulon B Escort (57)

-- Adar Tallon (10)

Corvette CR90 B (39)

-- Dodonna's Pride (6)

Luke Skywalker (20)

X-Wing (13)

X-Wing (13)

Dutch Vander (16)

A-Wing (11)

B-Wing (14)

Total : 299 points (I hope it's going to be sufficient to go second)

Objectives :Surgical Strike, Fleet Ambush, Superior Positions

I feel Surgical Strike synchronizes very well with Dodonna's potential (especially with Dodonna's Pride and Luke) and with the high number of Bombers, Fleet Ambush will allow me to isolate Imperial Fleets with 2 ships while Advantageous position will take advantage of the healthy number of fighters and superior maneuvrability/speed of the Rebel fleet to try and maneuver around the Imperial fleet.

I don't know whether I should swap Adar Talon and Dodonna ? I used to have Luke and Dutch activated by the Nebulon B rather than by the Gallant who was escorting the regular fighters.
