Pro Circuit Tour-Possible Location AUSTIN,TX

By Hayamachop, in UFS General Discussion

Hey guys,

I'm gonna try to get some Pro-Circuit Tour in Austin,TX. Who would (Potentially) come? If might beable to get a cheap (large) room, possibly free if I could start an organization. Would you be willing to pay for Parking? if not, would you willing to take buses and there MIGHT be free parking around campus (for the weekend). Tell me what you think so I can start looking around! Thanks~

Remember you're talking about the university giving us a room for 2 full days. That's pretty insane. Also the parking garages around campus forces you to leave by 11PM or you get a huge fine on top of a pretty expensive parking fee. I feel like UT campus would not be a good place to have it, especially since we'd be in classrooms and you know those are designed to where you face the professor...not each other. Pretty difficult to play games like that. :/

Best bet is to talk to Battleforge. There store can support 50 people, just need Warhammer cleared out.

I just called the Union, where we can rent rooms for free is we get a student organization. These are the big ballrooms. If earlier we know when we want to rent those rooms teh better. The representative said we can stay till 1AM-3AM depending on what floor. Also, I called Jason and we were talking about it. We can possibly get a hotel to bus the people back and forth, or he said he could pay for a chartered bus. It all depends. Of course the more free we get it the more prize support we can get for the event, which means we all walk away a bit happier. I did talk to battleforge and they said to notify them (at least) 2 weeks before the event and they would tell us yes/no. That doesn't sound particularly helpful especially because we all know sometimes they don't ever get back to us on stuff about UFS or even remember. (We dont want a repeat of Dallas do we?) Also at Battleforge, you must remember that the lot is shared with tons of other stores and Alamo Draft House which quite possibly take up the entire parking lot (remember when we struggled to even find 1 parking spot sometimes on friday nights?) it would only be worse on the weekends. Also delivery choices for food is also quite a bit larger near campus. I have thought about this and I am not hastily trying to for UT. Just our (or at least our scout's) experiences with our store are sometimes quite poor (in terms of getting our stuff). I think the benefits of UT outweigh the benefits around our card shop.

Parking is just a huge hassle around UT that's all. Much more so than Battleforge. :/

Although if we did do at UT it might be a chance to recruit some new players. It doesn't matter to me either way as long as its in Austin. I believe the UT rule for making an organization is.. either 3 or 5 people and $20. That shouldn't be too hard to do.

we already have parking plus if the hotel or whoever can ferry people its all the same. I know lots of areas (if there isnt a football game that weekend) you can park for free

There are virtually ZERO areas where you can park for free unless you want to get your ass towed. Parking garages at UT close around 11PM and they will fine you if you don't get your ass out. Brazos Garage..etc.

Good luck finding a spot on campus to park period, I'd much rather goto a comic book store than UT. =/

The only conveniant thing about UT is really if people want to go drink at a bar afterwards or something. Its just like 10~15 blocks south of us.

The only thing you have against UT seems to be parking issues. Which there will be as well if we go to Battleforge. Just seems their are just a few more pro's to being at UT. Plus you'd probably already be there on friday...
