Anybody heard about a tournament organizer for this game?
tournament organizer
Rickert!
(I used to be known as...Grendal)
Ah Grendal, what happened to that name? Good to hear from you. What's going on?
Woah woah woah, back on track . . . haha, I want to know the deal with this as well.
trying to keep this on the front page until someone answers.
What precisely are you looking for? A person with FFG who manages their Organized Play program , someone outside who is putting on tournaments, or some sort of web app to register, find, and publicize the various tournaments around the world?

I was wondering the same thing : )
I want to have some official designation that I could take with me to stores that want demos run. I want to find out if there is going to be any support for that effort. I want to know if there is going to be tournament structure and support for that. I certainly wouldn't think there would be any surprise that I and I suspect many others are wondering the same things.
Sorry for asking for too much. I will go back to the board games that I went to when I gave up on CCGs as being a black hole in my wallet.
Hey FFG- I like you. I really do-for the most part. That little part that really irks me is your unwillingness to use your official forum as a communication tool. It's probably taken money out of your pocket in rickert's case, and it won't be the last.
Even a "can't comment at this time" is better than silence.
Of course, what's the point of this very post. They won't read it.

don't worry too much about rickert...he's just been burned too many times by "organized play" from other CCG companies. I am very happy about how this game is set up (the LCG format) and will give it my support. FFG has an OP program that is geared towards store leagues...I have no doubt that W:I will also have a league kit soon and probably cool storyline events)
Thank you, Hidatom. I am going to support WH:I. I think it has a ton of potential and the future is bright. I'm even considering looking into CoC just because I love the LCG concept so much.
Now, where are is my Dark/High Elves expansion!!

Thank you for getting the point. CCGs are dying. There's only two who make any money to speak of and a couple of others that hold their own. Why do you think FFG converted a couple of games from CCGs to LCGs and have the new Warhammer in the LCG market? The CCG form will make the company more money if it sells well.
I don't have a problem with how FFG runs its organized play. What I have a problem with here is two-fold. One is that they aren't telling us those plans. Secondly is that they have no method in place to support people who will volunteer their time to go to store and demo the product. In my mind, with CCGs or LCGs where the company is trying to get monthly or regular purchases of the product, in-store demos need to happen or the game will die.
Did you guys bother reading the page that leads to the forums? They specifically say if you have questions or concerns to send them to FFG and that FFG does not monitor or really even moderate the boards.
If you ever have posted anything here expecting someone from FFG to get back to you and they haven't... well that is on you. Contact them through official channels. That said, FFG is a game company, not a customer service company. I wouldn't count on anything resembling a timely answer. It is frustrating, maddening, and yes, enough to occasionally drive people away from their games (that part to be honest I'll never understand, was the game not fun? Did you really need something from the company to make the game more enjoyable with your mates?). In the past I sent dozens of emails to WhiteWolf and Wizards of the Coast and only got an answer at WoC when started name dropping artists and developers. *shrug* it sucks but that seems to really be pretty standard with a number of companies... not that that is an excuse.
As to an OP I would expect that since the game just came out about a week ago, they don't have anything ready for immediate release. I doubt they have any support geared for people who want to demo their game. I'm not sure what kind of support you are looking for or why you feel you need some sort of official FFG approved designation. Most store owners I know are thrilled to have someone come in and demo a game they stock. You get new players, they make money.
I wasn't trying to be confrontational rikert, I honestly had no idea what you were asking, the way you stated it was so general it really could have been any of the things I mentioned. I'm headed up to Twin Cities at the end of the month. I hope to make it up to Roseville and hook up with Nate and a few past employees. If nothing has been announced I promise to steal his car keys and not give them back until I get some sort of answer for you.

I'm not trying to be confrontational either but that's just stupid on FFGs part. When you have an opportunity to EASILY know what's on players' minds and address them, it makes very little sense to ignore it and that note on the opening page doesn't make it any less senseless.
Beyond that, I have used the official emails and contact info to try and get info perhaps eight to ten times on a variety of topics and have received a response once. That's not a great percentage.
As for the demos, I'm not looking for anything for myself or for the store owners, but posters advertising the demo or maybe a promo card or something like that to give to people who take the demo would help intice players to spend their time taking a demo instead of playing some other game. Also, to me, not having OP already in place might indicate a lack of confidence in the game if they are waiting to see how the game sells. After all, most people expect that the OP will follow the other LCGs, so how much time would it have taken to have the OP ready at the time of the game's release?

enough with the doom and gloom, the game has been out a few days and is selling like hotcakes. It is being marketed more like a boardgame than a CCG. The league kits will come but until than play it with your friends at your local gamestore and see what kind of result you get.
I don't even have any stores near me carrying it. I don't have any of my friends who have even asked me or the stores about it. so in my universe it is selling like coldcakes and stiring up nary a breeze. So I'm glad for the rest of you who have a great environment, but considering my situation and very few options provided here or by FFG, I'll just sit back and wait and save my money and time.
We have a very strong communty growing and frothing at the mouth over this game . . . right now Augusta, GA is sitting on a gaming group of about 6 players with an estimated 10-12 by the time the store gets in another wave of sets.
Once the Organizer program comes out for this game I'm all over it.
stop being so negative rickert...if you want to give this game a try and can't find it then there are a TON of online retailers that carry it. I have used Coolstuffinc.com in the past and believe that even after shipping the game is a good deal through them. I also would see no problem playing the game in a store that doesn't carry it...you know just to show the owner and his customers how cool it is.
but I shouldn't have to tell you this...you were a involved in the old 40K CCG and that history channel card game...you know how to get the game and get the players. If you want to.
Or have your LGS order it, and set up your own demos.
If you don't have players with cards, what would FFG's official tournaments accomplish? Why do you need to wait on them for demo information, unless you're just trying to get free stuff?
If your LGSs aren't carrying it, talk to them about it. The game is out to distributors, if your LGS isn't bringing it in FFG has nothing to do with that.

Oh stop pretending that you know more than you do. Do you realize how much the companies that did 40K and Anachronism did to help me get players and grow the community? They gave me posters, promo cards, demo decks and they gave product to the stores to reward gamers who bought product. They publicized the date, time and locations of demos on their website. How much of that has FFG done?
I benefit from getting new players into the game in that I have more people to play with. But the local store benefits more and FFG even more than that.
How is getting the product online going to help me any? Is there a solitaire version I don't know about? If the game is to do more than jst merely survive in a few pockets, there needs to be demo teams and some type of help for those who are willing to devote time to do it. It nees to come from FFG.

I don't give a crap if I get free stuff or not. I want to be sure I have other people to play against before getting too deeply into this game becasuse I have both CCGs and LCGs sitting in the basement because nobody plays any more or nobody ever did. Go over to the Game of Thrones forums and see where I posted a thread asking for central Indiana players. The only response to that thread came when I bumped it up and I spent a good deal of money on that game for it to just sit at home. I need to have some help in getting people to try the game and when both the store and FFG gets a lot more benefit from new players than I do, I don't know why the entire burden of doing this should fall on me.
So then what would you expect FFG to do?
Provide demo decks? A single box comes with enough cards to set up all 4 races. One purchase will give you more than enough to demo with, not sure what else you can expect to do.
Announce events on their forums? There's a "Community" forum for you to do exactly that.
Promo cards? Why? The only people who care about these are the ones who already play and want the hard-to-get stuff. They don't do anything to get people interested in the game in the first place.
Posters? Yeah, that'd actually be pretty cool, but given the breadth of FFG's game line I can see why they don't do a poster for every game they make.
The few things you're asking for that might actually help are well within your own power to accomplish. Beyond just patting you on the head and stroking your ego about what a great job you're doing helping them out and they couldn't possibly live without you, I really don't see that any of this actually impacts your ability to develop the game in your area.
We've all got a ton of games sitting and gathering dust. Some games do better in some areas than others. If you care enough to do something about it get out and do it, and FFG's involvement or lack thereof is pretty much irrelevant.
I totally disagree with nearly every word you wrote. Promo cards are valuable to people who take the demo and like it and those are the ones you care about. So how about a card that you only get one or two of in the core set but could perhaps use an extra copy of?
I certainly wouldn't want to tax FFG's resources too much here, after all I have so many to spend for no profit to myself and they have so few but are the ones who stand to make the money off purchases. But how about an LCG poster featuring the three games and a space for the person doing the demos to write in the information specific to them like location, time and which game is being featured?
This isn't too much to ask of a very large game company as companies both larger and smaller have done as much and more.
Just forget about it. Apparently FFG doesn't need to do anything to get new players into the game except publish the game and let the overwhelming popularity of the product take over. They certainly don't need my help nor my money. Sorry I got too pushy and asked for the moon with a fence around it.
