I've been considering playing a twin VSD list and got to thinking if at 400 you could run a twin ISD with each having a full wing of fighters. It looks like you can(will... Maybe):
Squadrons (12) 133
TIE Adv x2
TIE Fighter x3
Howlrunner
TIE Int x4
TIE Bomber x1
Major Rhymer
Tarkin 38 (just for worst case points)
This leaves 239 points or 120 per ISD, which if the spoiler about the ISD1 being in the 90s for points is possible. Now whether a list like that is any good... Who knows, I do know I'll try it out because lore awesomeness.
Anyway, to get used to playing a pair of ships and fighters I was thinking of the list below:
Imperial, 300
Obj: Adv. Gunnery, hyperspace assault, minefields
Com: Screed
VSD1 w/ Screed, flight controllers, expanded hangers - 110
VSD2 w/ warlord, gunnery team, h9 Turbolasers - 108
Squadrons: (7) 82
Major Rhymer
TIE Bomber
TIE Advanced x2
TIE Interceptor x3
I'm debating switching out an advanced, and two interceptors (34) for Adm Chiraneu, Mauler Mithel, and a regular TIE (33). Or pulling either an advanced or a interceptor for an intel officer on warlord and perhaps another small upgrade.
A couple of general points about my play style / philosophy: I almost always deploy in the center to force a head on engagement or cut the board in half if the other side refuses a flank. I would deploy the carrier first, followed by fighters, and the VSD2 close on either side of my carrier based on enemy deployment (closer to the enemy if I'm confident they can't flank, or further away at max speed and navs to stop a flanking attempt). I will nav early and often if necessary... Though the carrier won't be able to do this as much (precious precious squadron commands).
Thoughts, on the current list or speculative ISD plan are both welcome
