Do you think that the future of Armada will support any campaigns or missions? Imagine a mission where you have to escort rebel transports (like at Hoth) from star destroyers or linking missions together for a campaign. I've seen people have custom campaigns which are great but very complicated. I just hope that someone (especially FFG) adds campaigns/missions that don't involve too many complicated rules. I'm not an X-wing player but I've heard that the game has some missions to play. I hope Armada gets supplemented in the future. Any thoughts or rumors?
Will Armada ever support campaigns/missions?
Our missions will likely pop up with our epic ships
Along with our SSD Executors I hope.
They should definitely add campaigns/missions to the game. It would be pretty cool to have some sort of campaign that is played out for organized play in some way. The game would definitely be different in that way I think.
I'd love to have missions tied to events from the movies, and other encounters. I'm in!
I am working on some generic missions for the club that go beyond the typical card objectives. I will try to post what we do with pictures as it happens.
If by 'support' you mean print official campaigns/missions, probably not. FFG only did a few with X-Wing, and I suspect that they probably won't do it for Armada.
I'm not really sure what to expect or hope for in this regard.
DarthSidious pretty much sums up what I think as well. However, I think it might be best this way.
I do really like the idea of missions and campaigns, and I think a few of my fellow players would like that as well. However, I don't think that FFG is that good at making them. The ones from X-Wing seemed rather shallow and generic. I think I would prefer it as a creative outlet of those of us who are into that sort of thing.
...now just to find the time...
I'd be happy paying good money for an Upgrade pack that contained 2-3 of each of the 3 types of missions as an expansion...
I'd love a campaign that started with the stealing of the death star plans and ends with a massive fleet battle at endor.
a store/league level galactic campaign would be pretty neat. Territory control galactic map with planets/sectors granting resources used to build fleets, and bleet bonuses from special locations like ship yards etc.
I'm not sure how they will be delivering "missions" but I did get to play test one at a recent convention. It was an escort mission that involved a unique named ship card for a Corvette that could not be fired upon if there was an obstructed line of site. Maybe they will be doing some more at Gen Con and we can get some reports.
I agree with Drasnighta
I have been hoping they would make boxed campaigns but its only a hope...i can see why they dont since most people would only buy 1 of each...

This was for Armada? And it was FFG asking for fans to play test it?
If you answer yes and yes I will be very excited.

I've written one! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oEi2RdXrUhwJssxqtIYyuvJyOP46NpCBMR2ia6L9V6A/edit?usp=sharing

For some reason I want to think this is easier to do in Armada than X-Wing.
I guess... it's because Armada considers more of "the big picture" when you get into space battles. Snubfighters holding territory is a little silly because there's always the unwritten presumption that bigger ships with TONS of fighters will make any spacefighter gains kind of moot. Well, you can't really get bigger than Armada battles without the game feeling too abstract for individual ships and starfighters.
It would be neat if a campaign system could also simulate ferrying troops and planetary occupation forces. Sadly we don't have a massive ground battle game yet (Imperial Assault has the same problem X-Wing does for campaign play) but eventually?
Edited by NorsehoundWe did a themed encounter a few weeks ago, where we had the Imperials defending stations from a rebel ambush. It went pretty well (though may have been a tax unbalenced).
Plenty of chances to make your own home brew games. Or assign an objective a few days in advance of your game, which player will be 1 and which 2, and let them build for that specific objective. That might be a fun thought experiment.
I created a way to do your own mini-campaigns: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1346373/mini-campaign
And someone else did a similar attempt here: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1373429/another-campaign-idea

Prepare to be very excited, it was yes to both. Max Brooke who works for FFG ran it and talked about this being one of the ones he has been play testing in their offices.
Published missions would be cool.
I just create my own, but I kinda go overboard when creating campaigns ![]()
