Black Market Auction item suggestions (Urgent input needed)

By Lauguz, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello, Gamer Nation!

I'm running a session tomorrow and I came up with a great scene, but I need some help crowd sourcing part of it.

The PCs will learn about an upcoming black market auction being held by a group of Rakata savers and pirates who are selling off the ships and equipment they've acquired since their last sale.

What I need help with are suggestions for the cool, rare equipment that a group of pirates might have taken off captured ships in the Outer Rim. I'm not familiar enough with the non-Core equipment lists to cherry pick for the auction. I'm not looking for just the best gear: the pirates are going to keep the best for themselves. What I want is help identifying some stuff that is both expensive, and possibly not immediately useful to a group of pirates.

So for example, an electronic lock breaker is something they would keep. Cybernetic eyes on the other hand, are rare and expensive but they aren't likely to be bothered to find a doc to implant them. Also, implants that have obviously been forcibly removed from their original owners plays up that the Pirates are Eeeevvvilll.

Something like Heavy Battle Armor might work: it might be more of a pain to deal with than pirates are willing to put up with.

The session is tomorrow, Wednesday 7/22 (evening, U.S. Eastern time).

Thanks!

A Tie Interceptor with mysterious Red Stripes. (Something they ransacked from an imperial convoy; they want to get rid of it quickly for obivous reasons.)

A Z-95 with a hyderdrive in an apprent state of disrepair. The hyperdrive cooradinates lead to select locations in deep space, yet it doesn't belong to anyone of note. They are not interested in fixing it up but recongise enough value in it's rare mod to sell it for a tidy profit. Belonged to a explorier.

A slab of cortosis alloys. (Actual analysis will reveal it not to be the case. Essentially it's a red herring. The pirates were also decieved.)]

Various ores (basically to be sold on. Pirates got this basically free: They sell on to black market for profit.)

Various craft: Most of which they take on themselves, but certain crafts they sell in a bangged up state for some extra captial. I'm talking it would take sangicant investment; heck they might have even taken the hyderdrive out, but happen to have one for sale...

Heavy blaster weapons. (Most certainly not legal in most respectable systems. These are not respectable fokes who don't mind selling rotary cannons to the wrong people. Sans any power couplings to actually make it work.)

Various art pieces/archological pieces (These guys are oppertunists, they might sell some art off for what they think is a reasonable price. These are worth a fair bit to the right people mind you. If people bulk buy from pirates, they could generally make a profit.)

Drugs. (Goes without saying, not every person they bust up is legit.)

Medicine (again, they is a lot of this on certain vessels. Remembered reading a novel which basically the priates pulled up; asked for supplies or be fired on, they got the supplies sent to them in escape pod.)

Some exotic weapons (Pirates generally probably want to do away with any weapons that don't fit in with their standard gear; after all parts can be difficult to come by.

I had no idea this existed! Wow, this solves many problems.

Awesome suggestions! Especially the faux cortosis and and art objects.

Info on something would be awesome. What thing? Codes to get them into an Imperial facility or prison? Treasure map?

The greatest lasagne recipe in the Outer Rim.

Where does your campaign need to go? What are your players like? What Obligation is there? Is there a player with a weird build that needs a chance to shine?

There's lots of neat ways to go, make it work for you.

One of the players in bad with the black sun? Maybe one of the people is the architect of an opposing Hutt's summer palace on Grendel Prime. Buy him and he'll give you the entire layout including the path to the vault where he keeps the Dirt on your Black Sun boss... at least as well as he can remember it.

The players know someone in the slammer? The old ship on the block is a Talloran enforcement cruiser... get that, Talloran peacekeeper uniform and some falified transfer docs and you're got a shot of springing your pal. What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe the spice isn't a normal load? Maybe it's a sampler and recipe of some new designer spice? 1 Part Booster Blue, 2 Part Ryll, and 3 parts Theonlythingyouwantotknowlessthanwhatitisithowyougetit. Might be worth a good Obligation reduction to that spice kingpin you know... of course those three Bothans are bidding like crazy people in an attempt to get it before you. Bet they won't be happy you've got it.

Sooo yeah, where you wanna go and what you wanna do?

Alderaan stuff. Some cultural museum had shipped off historical artifacts for a big exhibit. They were well protected until they had no port of call to return to. Their temporary housing proved less then secure and the artifacts made their way into this auction via lots of naughtiness. There are likely many interested parties... and maybe some willing to try and steal the artifacts before they get disbursed to the winds in this auction. Maybe there's an item or two that would be of direct interest to Princess Leia and she might have agents at the auction trying to recover them...

To add onto this, one bar sold Alderaan wine at a preiumun, even though at best it mightn't have been that good. Another was "moss" paintings, which decript events via the rearrangement of moss. We found one kept in an culture chamber on planet, immensely valuble.

A wookie...

A malfunctioning droid...

A defective lightsaber...

Awesome suggestions everything. Thank you so much!

Stealing straight from the SWTOR games Smuggler storyline here:

Preserved Sith Lord head in a glass jar.
Last of its species creature (very aggressive)
Antique droid, several centuries old.
Unknown person frozen in carbonite.

That's just what I could come up with off the top of my head though.

Awesome suggestions everything. Thank you so much!

Let us know how it went. It could be entertaining depending on what gets sold.
