This may seem a weird question: why don't the Drall, which Suns of Fortune does describe as being 1 meter tall, have Silhouette 0 like the Chadra-Fan, Toydarians and Gossam?

I asked this directly to Sam and the official answer is that they are supposed to be Silhouette 1.

I've wondered about the silhouette 1 Drall, too. The only reason I can think for them to get a 1 is their portly physiques, as others have suggested. In other words, FFG perhaps goes by square meterage rather than a simple linear measurement when deciding silhouettes for species.

What I suggest is that any race is smaller than 1.3M it is class as silhoutte 0. With the Hutts they are still young so thats why there not a Silhoutte 2.

Silhouette covers size, not weight, right? To me, Drall don't look to be any 'rounder' than Chadra-Fan or Toydarians, or any stockier than Ugnaughts, all of which are Silhouette 0.

Wookipedia says .96 for an R2 unit & height of a Drall as 1.0. Seems close enough for government work, but it's really bordline and picky to make that distinction.

And that brings up the question: the book describes astromech droids as silhouette 0, so if a PC is an astromech, are they sil 0?

Silhouette is a mass abstraction, not a height abstraction. Short silhouette 0 aliens and droids are not only smaller in height, they have a lithe frame. Toydarians are small enough to hover, Chadra-Fan are about the size and build of Human children, and R2 units are rolling trash cans that can be strapped to a grown adult like a baby bjorn.

Drall are short but they are also very, very stocky. They barely have necks.

Ugnaughts have necks, at least in every piece of artwork I've seen. The paintings of the Drall in Suns of Fortune made them look like tiny linebackers.

Also Ugnaughts are way more stocky than any Drall I've ever seen (drawn).
