The Concise/Collected Repaints Thread. Keep Them All Here, Keep Em Visible.
My JBR7-Hutt-painting inspired YV, with its fighter escort:
Decimator finished.
The Indianapolis Colts-ness of that squadron color scheme is giving me the vapors. Well done!
Is that the resin model from Russia ?
[if so, how long did it take to get to you ? - Cheers]
Yes, it is 18 days from date of payment.
More pictures of this ship
Very good resin cast, by the way. As good as Forge World one.
A gloss coat does wonders when applying a wash, no matter if it is an acrylic or oil wash. Satin varnish does a decent job if you don't have anything else, but never use matte varnish. Acrylic wash does have the problem that you often need to restore the original paint to at least some extent, unless you are really precise when applying it. And yes, washes might very well have to be thinned. It all depends on what you want to achieve.
Sorry to bug you about this advice from a while back, but I haven't tried this technique yet and need clarification. What I'm trying to find out is what you mean by "unless you are really precise when applying it." Do you apply it to the recesses/lines between panels on, say a Millennium Falcon and while it's wet, come back in with the wash?
I interpreted the method as 1) paint the ship in the desired base color, 2) apply a coat of gloss coat to all of the ship, 3) apply the wash to add shadows. Then of course after that you'd clean up with the base color, dry brush, edge highlight, etc., etc. and seal with a light coat of matte spray.
Thanks for the help.
I have just print out a Senator's Shuttle, thanks to the amazing Losik's work: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1581995
My 3D printer is a cheap one, but the result it's not so bad....
I hope you like it !

Here's my second Assault Gunboat (the lighter).
It's better printed respect of the darker, really more smooth.
I'm experimenting with different setting of the software and different material.
This time I try to respect the color, the red line pattern and an improvement cockpit.

Dino, I think you are ready to move on to painting the figures from the game now. You have the practice, some knowledge and plenty of talent. It's time to spread your wings.

At the moment I have 1 piece for each ships, no double with the exception of Tie Fighters.
So I prefer to explore new ships and tokens alternatives ....just to growing up a bit more in experience.
Here's my last experiment:
Do you like the Slave II ?
I can't find detailed images for the exact painting... so I try...

Hello All.

Pretty good.
I think that I have finished a royal guard tie, 2x T-70s, a phantom with cloaking effect, 2 tie FOs, the "red Jammer" Y-Wing, and Wedge Antilles' T-65 since you posted on my repaint thread last.
I have also started an asteroid sculpting project that I am VERY excited about.

Is it ? I thought it looked like a 3d-printed model, especially towards the nose, and without all the 'hull-plating' of the FFG one...oh well, maybe not

Ah, I did wonder...did you have to run it through "MakePrintable", or some other process? Only, when I tried splitting it in Tinkercad to fit my printbed, it turned out to be full of 'holes' when I sliced it

I print it out easly in one shot. It fit diagonally in my 3Drag.
That YV Space Camel is insane... well done!
Does anyone here do commission work? I saw a MF that had snoopy's WWI Flying Ace/dog house painted on it as nose art. I really want that on mine, but old eyes, big fingers and a bit unsteady hands make this impossible.. So if anyone is interested please get hold of me...Thanks.
