I just thought the Tau symbols kind of fitted in the Star Wars/Scum look I was going for.
Here is my TIE-Shuttle model and a TIE-Fighter repaint.
So I thought I'd make a little post commemorating the first commission of X-Wing ships I've ordered with the tremendously talented Vykes, an Armada painter whose incredibly well put together thread you can find here: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/182047-forces-of-the-ceknell-subsector/
We've worked together on a couple Armada commissions before this, which you can find in the thread above, but my main love is X-Wing - and thankfully I was eventually able to convince him to do some work for me there! The following are all painted by him (all I did was write some emails and then paypal some money haha)
1) Scourge/Wampa/Chaser/Youngster
I'm a big fan of colored view ports as a way of distinguishing named TIEs from their generic counterparts whenever possible. Some additional pics here:

2) Obsidian Sqn
These ones I wanted to be in ESB blue, to go with the Imperial Assault Carrier where they originally came from.
3) Academy Sqn
These ones I asked for sort of the most generic look possible, nice and clean like they were fresh from the factory.
4) Dagger Sqn
I mostly enjoy re-imagining or war beaten variants of the ships that already exist - an easy stand in for the card art depicted for Dagger Sqn or Nera Dantels for example.
5) Ibtisam
This one was supposed to be sort of a Gray Sqn B-Wing, since some of the B's card art is pretty grey looking.
6) Gold Sqn Pilot
Truth be told, I already have a good looking Gold Y-Wing, so Vykes came up with this Red Sqn looking one, which I think would be a neat stand in, with a magnetic turret and everything!
7) Red Ace
All I told him was that I wanted it to be red, and he came up with a really excellent inverted color scheme that I love. Too bad I find actually flying this particular pilot pretty boring haha
8) 'Sabaton' YT-1300
This is an X-Wing scale version of an Armada repaint of a YT1300 he put together for me. (Check it out here: http://i67.tinypic.com/2n9wb4i.jpg)
9) Guardian Sqn
I have some neat looking K-Wings already so for this one, I asked him to come up with something inspired by a B-17 flying over Africa in WWII. I think he did a pretty great job overall! Note the chin turret relocated to the rear where I think it makes more sense: http://i.imgur.com/SixStAdl.jpg
10) Phoenix Sqn
I'm a big fan of the show SW: Rebels, especially as inspiration for paint jobs - so I had him mock up these variants as seen in the reference material from the show. Note the upgraded guns on the green ship. At the last minute, I had him add one more, after I'd seen a few more episodes of the show:
11) Hera's A-Wing
I thought it was a pretty unique color scheme and it doesn't make sense to have the other 3 without the fourth, in my opinion haha
12) Sabine's TIE/ln
He custom created some wing pylons for this one in order to accurately depict that checkerboard pattern - I think it came out pretty well!
13) Knave Sqn Heavy E-Wing
I know it isn't but I've always thought the card art for Knave Sqn and for Corran Horn as well both make the E-Wing look a little dark green & yellow. So I thought that color scheme might look cool. Plus I knew dark green was good already based on Macross' excellent E-Wing which I had someone copy once before. This redesign was entirely conceived by Vykes however - I really love the way it looks with the relocated gun and engines!

For some reason "Insane Clown Posse" was the first thing that came to mind.
Wow. I retire from painting now.

Oooooh!
Love those TIE fighters. Subtle, yet noticeable and original.
Well this isn't a repaint yet as I am still building it.
I don't like that silly gap between the cockpit section and the main hull on the YT-2400. So I have decided to fill it in !!!
This is my first time with plasticard but it is a pretty easy material to work with.
I decided to make this an engineering section and not more armoured hull. My reasoning is that I don't have to work hard on matching the rest of the hull colour perfectly with my limited range of paints.
Thought I would contribute my recent A-wing repaint.

Definitely a great start.
I would say that you still need to add more bits and pieces so that there isn't as much flat/plane plasticard showing and your work will be more consistent with the rest of the models engine parts.
Rebel heavies:
The K-wing has some modifications to try to de-ugly it a bit, added vanes & fins and chopped off the lower winglets. Worked out pretty well, I think.
And a pair of B-Wings, my favourite Star Wars fighter and also the least sensible thing in Star Wars.
Some more of my rebels. Some of my rebels are full repaints and some are partials, which was tricky because I had to adjust my usual style to blend in with the prepaint look in some cases.
X-Wings:
A-Wing (still only have one, need to do something about that):

WOW
Excellent repaints, But I really love your Ewing.
All the best,
Barry.
Shapeways FUD Missile Boat.
I have you now!!!
I repainted my Tie Advanced to fit in with my other Imperial ships ie: a darker grey, While at the same time making sure that the model can be used to represent the big guy himself!
I added Ion thrusters with OSL to Vader's Tie Advanced as well as referencing his X-Wing card and painting OSL on the inside of his wings.
As usual I have changed the lasers to green.
I don't think I am going to add the usual blood stripes in honor of the Sith Lord himself
Here's a few more repaints I commissioned from other artists that I've been neglectful in posting lately.
Similar to the post above, here's a fairly subtle TIE X1 repaint done by http://www.wingcustoms.com/
I recall people were also discussing the airbrushed fire effect on Boba Fett's Scum Firespray canopy, which I had the same artist recreate as well:
He did a spectacular job with the detail on the back as well:
and finally, Testa, the same artist who put together the LED lit Millenium Falcon above, did this Kath Scarlet for me:
