Yup, that E-wing is pretty close to mine. Good job mate!

I just love this thread! So many amazing conversions and repaints!
Here's some more of the stuff I've tried my hand at.
My first repaint ever from 2013 - the "Pacifier"
And the second one from 2013. I call it "Rebel Yell":
My first HWK conversion, the "Rodian Pride":
Second HWK - the "Greyhawk":
The "Tri-Wing":
This is one of my favourites, because most people have to look twice to see what has been altered:
How does that poor E-wing land?!
Any chance of getting some WIP pictures, so we can see what you did and how you did it.
Wow I am loving those A-wings.... did you redo all of the paint from scratch or did you just add onto the current paint job with touch ups?
The A Wings are all new paint.
I don't strip them or base coat them, I just paint over.
Nose art decals that will fit an x-wing miniature.
links man! I need links!
Just posted this in the conversion tread, here's my Scum epic.

This is a great piece. I would really like to add this to my collection. Please
Just got this wrapped up last night. It's a WWII inspired punisher. I'm waiting for the nose art decals to arrive.

Why don't you free hand the nose art? I think you can do it.

Unfortunately I did'nt take any. But basically here's what I did:
- cut the wings from the fuselage
- cut the wings a bit to diminish the wingsweep
- added the extra engines (made from stirene) along the fuselage with engine tips (from a Z-95). Added a bit of details on these engines, some embossed, some engraved with a plastic scriber.
- glued back the wings
- trimed the nose, then added a milliput extension, that I trimmed when it was wet. The aim was to get an overall longer and more slender shape.
- cut a portion of the engines that are under the wings so they would be a bit shorter.
- removed the top canon and placed it back a bit closer to the back.
- undercoat
- some white paint
- masking tape
- paint
All along the process, checking MacrossVF1's blog to see how he did his
Wow!
That sounds like a significant amount of work!
The end result definitely looks awesome, but it is a little bit too much work for me.
Hi all, first time posting here. I've kind of got into repainting minis recently and have been working on painting my own Gold Squadron. Looking for any feedback or tips for how it could be improved. Especially any ideas you might have for a good squad numbering system:

The K-wing is still a WIP. Quite a few rough areas that need to be tidied up but trying to work out a good colour scheme for it.
As to squad numbers, the hobby lobby type places have scratch off type number transfers for pinewood derby cars. I found a couple sets that are small enough to get on the wings of a t-65. They aren't half bad .and I think there is a coating or paint method to help blend in the decals to the paint. But I'm not sure what that would be called exactly.
The ones I used are decent enough as is.
I just won't use them again only because I think big English numbers look just a little out of place.
Going forward, I would use something like the x wings allready use. An abstract hashmark system that fits the aesthetic of the ship.
Edited by Srbathe paint work is fantastic in my opinion.

My Palpmobile Propaganda Shuttle. ***snipped for length***
THAT...IS...AWESOME
AGREED!
"Your Emperor needs you - to roll an evade!"
Another thing I've done is... Look at the model for either panels or those tiny details that stick up from a panel...like the little bits on the top of the k wing ...or along the side by the cockpit of the Y...
And pick them out with a contrasting color.it works for your own knowledge. Like a code almost.
For instance...the k wing has a round bubbley part on the top of each wing. If you have two identical k wings in your paint scheme. Have one of them have a black bubble and the other one has two black bubbles.. So you will know k wing 1 and 2 .
But hmmm..for a squadron marking...on those 4 ships...let's see...
Maybe.. (And this is purely for an example, i am not suggesting you use these exact spots)The nose of the Z painted a color...a Y wing with that color on both engine cones for ' 2'....the other Y has both cones and the cockpit for '3'
The k wing gets two panels on each wing done in " identifying" color of your preference for "4".
Personally, I would go with black. I like black bits with the white and yellow you are using.
Possibly an orange.
Anything but blue. I'm just against blue in general. It's an irrational hatred.

I'll post a link once they are on the ship. Should be here by next weekend.

Thanks. Honestly it's not that much.
The materials are easy to work with. Other than drying time for the milliput, the conversion itself took something like 2-3 hours.
And now I really want to actually play the ship

Thanks for the ideas! What do you think about painting a single panel on each ship in a sort of dark red with a number of white stripes through it to indicate its squad number?

Yeah a really dark red would look nice with the white marks. you even have enough room to do sort of a homage to the candy stripes that luke has on his ANH x wing guns. like make a barrel on the Z95 red , one of the supports on each of the Y wing engines and eh...maybe one of the wing tip bomb pod things on the k wing red with the number of white stripes on each as required.
its an intersting question because....its such a blank canvas. you have a lot of freedom to make things up with this stuff. In usually try a couple ideas out and paint over them and try something else again. today i changed the markings on my k wings probable 5 times looking for that `just right` look.
I run into similar writers block moments on this stuff because I make it up as I go usually....then change my mind..
I dont like planning. ha! just roll with it.
Funny you should say that...the antenna feelers are my next step.
Bump.
Love this topic. People have some great ideas.
Started with something really simple. My son was disappointed that his T70 from TFA core set didn't have Poe's orange and black colour scheme so I set out to see what I could do about it. Not my finest work perhaps but not bad for free-handing on a 1:270 mini.
Oh look more Y-Wings...
