Lambda Canon???

By atkrull, in X-Wing

Throwing this out to the masses:

Lambda Shuttle with either

A: Mangler with Accuracy Corrector ( 3 damage and no extra evade dice at Range 3. AC on there to insure that I always get at least 2 hits and don't have to worry about focus or TL if stressed).... I know AC doesn't interact with Mangler ability :(

B: HLC with FCS?

The only reason I don't like HLC with FCS is that on Lambdas you can't chase down the target with the FCS Target Lock. Mangler + AC means I can shoot at whoever crosses my path.

Which would you choose?

I also misspelled Cannon :)

Haha I was really confused about the topic header. Makes sense. I personally use Lambda with HLC as a sniper that is always moving 1's and 0's and using AS to ensure an action every turn. It's arguable that 31 points is expensive for 4 dice sniper, but meh it's fun to play and does decently sometimes lol. :P

I have flown 4 space cows with Accuracy corrector with good results. Just stagger the ships so they can cover each others rear. don't really need mangler if you are all ready tossing 3 red dice... Just my opinion.. i mean 4 points for the occasional crit vs Hit..

Heh I thought you meant you didn't realize the Lambda was canon....

I'm planning on running a Lambda half ass Fortress list,

OGP: HLC or Mangler+AC with 2 Tacticians x2

Yorr: HLC or Magler+ AC with Vader

Mangler AC sounds pretty good to me. Only one way to find out. ;)

Why not Gunner + FCS + Tactician? Same points as HLC + FCS, but allows you to shoot again (and get a free TL) if you miss the first shot, and possibly land 2 stress on a target at range 2.

The problem with AC is that it doesn't pair with dice other dice modifiers. In AC it clearly states you cannot modify the dice further. So if you are thinking of AC to get 2 hits and Mangler to make it a hit and a crit well that would be illegal according to the card text of AC.

If you really want a grinder build then maybe HLC+Gunner+AC. Although that would be a lot of points and a little redundant as you go from a 4 dice attack that can do no less than two hits to a 3 dice attack that can do no less than 2 hits (unless at range 1 then it is always 4 dice). Still that is a lot of points spent in upgrades and generally if you spend 12 points or more on a non-fortress ship it would be better just to get a TIE Fighter/Z-95 instead. Gunner + AC might be better and just forgo the cannon.

Time for a PSA.

IT'S CANNON.

I haven't yet tested it, but lately I've been attracted to Accuracy Corrector on Lambdas. 2 out of 3 hits is a pretty good die roll; I've rolled a lot worse having both a TL and Focus on a target. Considering the awful Lambda dial, is see AC as a way of improving the shuttle's mobility...I don't need my offensive actions if I have Accuracy Corrector, so who cares if I get stressed by my full stop or 2 hard turn? It might not be as maneuverable as a Lambda with Engine Upgrade, but I think taking 2 hard turns/0 stops more often will throw people off.

I guess stressbots and tacticians are problems, but at least they're shooting at the shuttle instead of my Decimators/Tie Interceptors.

Op already said he misspelled it.

Does anyone ever put ions on shuttles?

Just run AC + Engine Upgrade. You'll be fine as a fat gunship.

Gunner and FCS is the Buzzsaw combo.

Gunner and FCS is the Buzzsaw combo.

so we got Buzzsaw Gunner + FCS and Grinder as in token grinder (Evade, focus) AC + Gunner. HLC could be an add on to either of these options but it depends on how much of value you get with these.

Well the topic does make sense. Is Lambda with a cannon canon? :)

Not a cheap build (in cash terms) though is it, three or four lambda (that over £100 in the uk alone) plus picking up loose cards or expansions for cannons and accuracy correctors.

Heh I thought you meant you didn't realize the Lambda was canon....

Clickbait I calls it, I thought we were going to get an interesting link about the Lambda being taken out of some new Disney's Cut of the OT :P

I have nothing to add to the discussion, by the way. Sorry.

I've run double Tactician and Fletchette before. I think I also ran Advanced Sensors. Fairly cheap way to triple stress something. An Ion Cannon would probably be even nastier. Double stress plus Ion.

If you really want to run lambda fortress list you will want advanced sensors.

Something like OGP + sensors + HLC x2

Yorr same load out

Leaves a few points for something extra

Lambda fortress is boring though...
