The three of choice?

By punkmonkey25, in Strategy and deck-building

Hey everyone,

So I was just thinking about the game, and know we have a slew of heroes now, and an almost infinite hero combination. But I was wondering what some of the favorite hero pairings of people were?

For example.

Some of the heroes I like together

Gandalf, Spirit Merry, and Tactics Boromir.

Spirit Merry offsets the high threat of Gandalf, and helps lower your threat while Boromir can attack and defend.

Eowyn, Eomer, and Beregond

Highest starting quester. Highest starting defender. And has potential to be one of the highest starting attackers (if an ally leaves).

I know most people just post decks, but I think this is the premise of any deck. And to see how people combine heroes would help me as I grow in deck building.

Thanks.

I only just began playing so it is very early for me to say. I have built a Caldara deck and try at all times to play only women.

Caldara and Galadriel work well together - the mirror makes drawing Fortune or Fate easier, Galadriel is also just straight up great once you love it (then you better put a ring on it). In my limited experience I have also brought Eowyn who, with Galadriel offering her 4 Will, is 8 boostable for questing each round. Bonkers.

Caldara is the weak link, but she's already saved our game once and I feel she has it within her to make up for the combat shortfalls of that list by bringing in some 2 attack allies repeatedly.

That said - I think Idraen is going to be my third. I thought I'd keep Eowyn but now that I've played Galadriel I'm genuinely not certain. Either way, Idraen brings the attack power the list lacks and with allies like the Riddermark's Finest and Northern Tracker bouncing around Idraen is going to stand ready often.

Hmm, here are some of my favorite combos:

Sam and Pippin with either Mablung or Halbarad in order to maximize all of the benefits of engaging enemies.

Beregond with Legolas and/or Haldir to handle combat without engaging enemies (combos well with the first deck).

Glorfindel and Pippin make a great team for foundation for secrecy decks because of low threat and access to Elrond's Council and other secrecy staples. They can be combined with Sam, Mirlonde, Frodo, Merry, or others to make strong secrecy decks.

Tactics Aragorn and Mablung (and usually a 3rd tactics hero) combo nicely. Aragorn's ability fuels Mablung's resource generation.

Elrond and Treebeard (and someone with low threat) so you can use Treebeard's ability often with lots of healing and access to Lembas.

Gandalf and Elrond for the awesome strong Vilya combo deck. Add Splorfindel and done. Now that I think about it, Sperry might be good too.

Boromir Eowyn/Galadriel and Sperry.

Eowyn, Eomer, and Beregond

Highest starting quester. Highest starting defender. And has potential to be one of the highest starting attackers (if an ally leaves).

That combo may not work so well, since with Beregond as your primary defender you probably won't have too many allies leaving play. You'd have to rely on things like Escort from Edoras and Westfold Outrider rather than the usual chump-blocking.

For myself, I'm not sure I can pick a favourite combination of heroes without taking into account the context of a full deck.

Tactics Aragorn and Mablung (and usually a 3rd tactics hero) combo nicely. Aragorn's ability fuels Mablung's resource generation.

That sounds sweet. I had thought about lore pippin with Tactics Aragorn, but didn't think of Mablung.

Thanks guys, this is good food for thought.

The best decks I ever made was a Treebeard, Elrond, Lore Glorfindel deck. Paired with Legolas, Eowyn, & Theodred to support them.

I have been wanting to make a deck with those heroes. Can you post a list?
