Move into Attack Position!

By Corellian Corvette, in Star Wars: Armada

They are building get up to Gencon. . . Likely we will see a fighter article next week and then we will maybe see some spoilers.

I find d it funny that they are talking about tactics many of us on the forums created. Such as the Nav Team Nebulon-Bs. Anyone remember the Nebulon-B sashay?

I kind of hope they hold off on the spoilers until the six weeks leading up to wave two's release. I know we are in the midst of a huge layoff since the announcement article, but I'm okay with being thrown some bones in the form of (hopefully consistent) strategy articles while we have an unknown release date. They probably had to take a good look at how they were going to pace information since jumping the gun announcing the next wave while we were only playing with cores. :)

Even though I don't see myself getting any more than two of each, the only spoiler I would really want to see are the ISD and MC80 point costs. I feel for Imperial players though - I don't play Empire very frequently and the two ship options are starting to feel stale even to me. I would be way more thirsty for information if I didn't primarily play Rebels - I still feel like I can shake things up...

So yeah, maybe bring on the spoilers. Imperial players deserve to hear about the more engaging list building options on the way. :)

I doubt the forumites can lay claim to 'creating' a maneuver that is very simple and was probably being used very early on in the games development... ;-p

So, another padding article next week. Any ideas on how many more of these padding articles there might be? I'm wanting more news on the new ships already >.<

I'm losing hope that the Wave 2 ships will see an early release at GenCon. It seems like they would have gotten some spoilers out there before that.

I think Gencon will be our spoiler extravaganza personally. No real reason otherwise to do these articles though I guess it has been what, a month since wave 1 released.. .

I can agree with some of this....but for me there will always be only one objective: blow up all the enemy capital ships as fast as possible.

I feel that when the large ships of wave 2 arrive, wiping out all an opponent's ships in 6 turns will be a rarity. Unless of course you agree to the optional rules and slug it out to the bitter end.

Article's biggest problem is that it isn't wave II spoilers.

It is starting to feel like FFG is trolling us somewhat isn't it?

"You know the X-Wing wave we announced after we announced your wave 2? We've started spoiling them first."

"Oh looky here. We've finished spoiling that X-Wing wave, but you still haven't had anything!"

"Never fear Armada players, the wait was worth it! Here is an article for you! It's a tactics article we forgot to put out when Armada was new..."

"What's that? You want more spoilers on the wave we announced eons ago? Erm... we have a second tactics article for you! And another next week too!!"

Well I don't think they should have done these articles when the game was new. Using wave 1 which gave both sides more options meant that the articles could be fleshed out. Waiting a month meant people had time to digest everything

I don't know, I'm enjoying these little articles even if they patently aren't willing to tell me what the tractor beam upgrade does (despite me having already bought the rights to two of them via preorder :P). It's just sort of restating what I already learned here, but nice to know it's not just the attitude of one solitary site.

The thing is, these are practically written, well presented and it's enjoyable to a degree that I can show others and they can digest it. Go onto the forum and there's so much background noise and clutter that it factors into the whole learning process. Needless to say, the message might be lost on some individuals who just don't care for the environment.

Anecdotal evidence time! I can easily show this article, and the previous, to a few of my friends and they'll eat it up. That said, sure, they can find all that information here; but forums are a menagerie of.... conflicting personality types. They find them insufferable, and thus they're not going to 'go have a look at a thread' when they can't stomach the tone or attitude of certain individuals.

These articles bypass the whole 'forum behaviour' factor and transmutes it into something intelligible. So, while some on the bleeding edge might consider it preposterously ill-timed for the tactical connoisseur, it's still headline news for others. Then again, an article from an official source like FFG holds far more authoritative sway than the word of a forum denizen (no offence intended. I'm one too, aren't I?).

I think they're pretty good too, so 'blast me to smitheroons [sp]' but I'm still happy they put it up instead of nothing. More than that, I'm sort of interested in seeing the next article about fighter squadrons and the dev team's take on them. Acegard has a stupendous read on it already, but I still like looking over a lot of different opinions nevertheless.

Is it too much to ask for this picture to be an avatar option? :(

It's quite good.

I honestly don't think they intended to announce wave II until later but did it to generate excitement at a time when we all were wringing our hands together because of the Longshoremen's Strike.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing it at 1920x1080, that would look great as a desktop background.

On a side note, I wonder what cars will use that CR90 picture. . . New title in wave 3 or 4?hmmmm

Can we remove the CR90 and get the rest of the picture for a mat?

Alternate art CR90 for Nationals.
