You know what would be cool, More pilot to choose from.

By devotedknight, in X-Wing

I would love to get different pilots for each ship. Maybe FFG could include the cards in a pack of gum!

Putting gum with pilot cards doesn't change the fact that you are asking for card packs... and we all know how those topics end up.

I don't think it would work well with French Fries or any other gamer snack food.

Maybe if they had a regulated way to order specific pilot cards, aside from the ones that come in the current packs. You know, pay $10 to get three pilots.

Note: This would not be a random three pilots, but you would know exactly what you were getting.

You are new, here, so not "in on the joke", but 'pilot-only' packs...or packs that otherwise do not include a mini...are something that has long been requested by a lot of folks.

And requested *to* FFG or FFG representatives, who have officially stated on far more than one occasion (at this point) that they have no interest in doing, nor will be releasing, any "card-only" expansions.

So...any new cards we get have to come with something else. Ostensibly minis, but...

(Ergo: the OP's joke that started the thread.)

I think right now id be more excited for new pilots than new ships. A few ace packs if that's what it needs to be would very likely be welcomed by the community. I pretty often look at certain models in the collection and think "I'm not sure where to fit the generic and I don't want to try a list centered around the good named so I guess that ship doesn't get played." Not every ship needs help, but the b wing for instance was made far more fun thanks to rebel aces.

I dig this game. But as a long time table top gamer, I find it off putting that I need to buy a faction (I don't play) to get a card. I will use proxy or borrow, or app. I refuse to partake. Ironically I would be willing to pay good money for the cards alone, I just don't need more mini clutter.

Don't let the true believers hear you say that, or they'll drown you out with cries of "Entitlement! Entitlement!"

Before we see any more obscure EU ships, I'd like to see some aces packs for existing ships with additional pilots. Ideally I'd like to see some proper campaign supplements with one or two miniatures used in the campaign included, a rulebook, a handful or scenarios and some new cards. Like what you get in the Huge ship packs, but for regular ships.

This thread is troll bait.

FFG is amazingly good at recognizing when this happens and putting those cards in other sets, or recognizing it in advance and providing multiples. If there is a really good card you want that isn't available in your faction, just be patient, it probably will be.

They can't include every card in every expansion.

It can be a drag that some cards only come with ships that I might not use, but I still don't understand why some people restrict themselves to one faction only and then whinge that the other faction has all the cool cards. As soon as S&V was announced, I couldn't wait to get into that faction as well. And the fact that it included so much that could be utilised by my existing collection was just great. It's given my HWK and Firespray a new lease of life.

But, as others have said, card packs just aint gonna happen in this game.

FGG have been categorical when they said no, and given no explanation for the reason. Sorry if it sounds tinfoil-hat-worthy, but to my trained ears that sounds "because lawyers, and we aren't allowed to mention it". Probably they have one agreement for the Star Wars LCG and another for the X-Wing TMG, and a card only expansion would somehow go against their deal with LFL. So it's not going to happen. They sell miniatures, and they have to keep selling miniatures.

I think they could make a Most Wanted-like pack, with more cards than miniatures, though.

For example:

Space Tug Expansion Pack.

Bring ship tugging and weight rebalancing to your fleet! The new Space Tug is a cross faction utility vehicle that will retool and tweak the inefficiencies in your squad! Reload munitions, improve your engines, replace your broken astromechs, deliver fresh pilots to long forgotten craft in your shipyard!

Includes a Space Tug minitaure (1cm long, 0.5cm wide!) on a tiny base, as well as an assortment of pilots, upgrade cards, tokens, cardboard insets, speed 6 straights, and speed 4 bank and turn templates, and much more! Autothrusters a go-go, a bunch of Twin Ion Engine Mark II, Expanded Munitions like they were going to ban them tomorrow, and Mareek Stele and Keyan Farlander piloting all kind of stuff! The X-Wing fix, the TIE Defender fix. And the frigging Tractor Beam at last! (only equipabble by the Tug).

Yeah, you keep dreaming, pal. :D

I don't think it has anything to do with LFL or Disney. It's just the business model that FFG wants to run with. Which is not an entirely bad thing. It works for them and keeps them producing games and expansions. Some gamers may not find it entirely useful, but they're not going to change FFG's business plans at all.

Yes, there is some balancing out of some ships that might be still in the works, but as they've shown in the past, when releasing another pack, it usually contains the fixes along with some new (or reworked) models. I want the TIE Adv fixes, but there's no way I'm going to buy the Raider just to get them. So instead I'll use printed proxy cards for friendly games. No problem.

The issue is the number of cards X-Wing uses. To sell them for £10 a blister and make a profit they need to have customer perceived value of £10. The six or so cards are not worth £10 to most people, so they either need to design a load more cards, meaning either higher costs due to hiring more designers or less playtesting meaning a quality drop, or stick a miniature in there.

If you don't want a StarViper, then sure, proxy Autothrusters. I also won't buy a miniature for just cards. The people who complain the most are the ones who actually will buy a CR90 for C-3PO and then leave it to gather dust.

Id like to see a few new aces packs, a rogue squadron pack would be awesome, you could also include pilots we already have, but in different ships, i.e. an x-wing version of corran horn or tycho celchu. these aces packs would also be good places for people to get cards that are otherwise hard to get, for instance c-3po or autothrusters for rebel/imperial players.

I am waiting for the Han Solo expansion pack. Comes with an Imperial shuttle and Imperial Han.. also comes with Scum Han card and the "Bria" Freighter..

Well there's eBay as an option, where are you USA, England?

There are sites that part out expansion packs you just need to know where to look.

I dont play Rebels but the idea of a Rogue Squadron pack is very drool worthy, if only to fight against. I'd love to see Hobbie, Wedge, Corran, and Tycho in their respective xwings all lined up against me. As an Imperial player that's kind of been the dream since I got a hold of an Interceptor with stripes.

But why stop there?
I wanna know why Mara Jade isnt a Z-95 pilot yet. Or why we dont have Talon Karrde in the Wild Karrde yet. Or heck even Lando flying the Lady Luck.

The proverbial wet dream would be a 4 or 5 mini pack for Rogue Squadron, and the same for the 181st.

Just imagine Fel in a Defender.

Hell, why not just have a couple pilots that can fly a couple different craft.

Like:

Soonti Fel

all TIE craft

points cost 30

Same EPT

There increased points cost to augment the increased ability.

or

Wedge Antillies

all "wing" craft"

points cost 30

Same EPT

or

Tyber Zann

all craft with names you cant pronounce

points cost 30

"new ept"

There you go. problem solved

Clawcraft, then aces to your hearts content ;) :D

Team Covenant has individual upgrade cards.

Has anyone seen Ribann lately?

This thread is troll bait.

Actually this thread was meant to be fun, as is many other of my posts. There are people who just don't have a sense of humor, and start being negative and insulting, because they misinterpret. Honestly and with all due respect, (a lot more respect than you have shown me in the past.) If you don't like my post, than don't read them. For each one else just have fun.

Has anyone seen Ribann lately?

Nah, but we know DK isn't Ribann.

I was really hoping for people would have some fun and make jokes. But it got "Real" quick. Here's an idea though, How about this as an expansion box that has rules to design your own pilots.

People are really sensitive lately, I wouldn't let it worry you.

Yes they did give a reason. They were quite clear on the reason in fact. They said it didn't make sense financially for them to do so.

They are clearly of the opinion that they'd make less money over all by selling card packs vs selling things like they do now. Seeing how they alone are able to look at their financials, anyone who claims otherwise does so without any facts or data to back up that claim.
