I just went for my first tournament this week-end, and I have discovered my meta is somewhat (ok, a lot) on the competitive side.
Out of 10 participants, 7 ran PWTs, 6 if which were also fat (1 Chewie/Corran, 1 Wild Space Fringer with a mini-swarm attached and 5! RAC with various 2nd ships: Fel, Whisper or Echo).
I ran a Xizor and 5 Z-95s (4 Binaryes and one Black Sun Soldier), went 2-2 and placed 5th, barely losing to Chewie/Corran (49-44) ran by the tournament winner and losing badly (100-65) to a RAC/Fel list (he is also a much better and experienced player than me), while winning vs. a Ten Numb and 2 named X-wings and a RAC/Echo list.
All in all, I'm half-happy with the Prince's performance He can certainly hold his own against most lists, but that RAC/Fel really scared me. Rebel Captive meant that my options were: try to chase Fel (which the Z-s couldn't do and the Prince alone would take forever to kill, if he won the fight at all) or shoot RAC and take a stress every round (and a stressed Prince that has either to pull greens or do no actions struggles to keep a VT-49 with EU in arc reliably).
So I'm looking at some hopefully better competitive lists for the future.
Something I came up with on my own (once Wave 7 hits):
Kath Scarlet with Predator, Recon Specialist, Inertial Dampers and EU
Lats Razzi with Gunner, Bossk, Maneuvering Fins (if they're really Juno Eclipse lite, EU otherwise) and something else (maybe K4 Security Droid)
Would this be a good starting point for a competitive list, or should I just give up and go for one of the tried&true top lists (most likely Super Dash) ? ![]()
Help me decide on a competitive list for the future
You could always put swarm tactics on xizor to let one of the z's take the stress from rebel captive.
Edited by markcsoulI never found stress that big of a deal on star viper. Greens are a bit limited but you have autothrusters and boost/BR makes up for
limited green moves. If you have trouble blocking Fel, sounds like you need a flechette torp. Fel is a dead duck after getting hit by that.
Xizor w/ VI, virago, FCS, autos & flechette = 39
5 binayres = 12 x 5
99
Its a pretty solid list...
Flechette Torp is interesting, thanks for suggesting that. It would also help somewhat with other aces like Corran or Whisper/Echo.
The question is: would it be worth giving up Inertial Dampeners and the Initiative bid (as I only own 2 Most Wanted I run Xizor with VI, FCS, Virago, Autothrusters and ID, 4x Binaryes and 1 Black Sun Soldier at 99 points)?

I don't really like the inertial dampeners on the star viper. I find its rarely needed since you can slow yourself down quite well with access to all of the 1 moves plus barrel roll. YMMV of course.
What about the other list? Does anyone see any potential in a Kath/Razzi list ?
I'm thinking it could threaten Fat Falcons reasonably well (-1 Agility means denying them C-3PO at range 1 and 2), and, if I include a Tactician as the 3rd crew on the YV-666. it could also threaten aces quite well (-1 Agility and Stress, something I doubt Corran/Soontir/Phantoms would enjoy very much). My main worry would be VI Brobots as moving after me means they wouldn't have a very hard time arc dodging one or even both ships.
