[Homebrew] Imperial (or Scum?) heroes

By Josef747, in Imperial Assault Campaign

I'm sure I'm not the first to have this idea, but I think it could be pretty fun to come up with some Imperial or Scum "heroes", plus a campaign and side missions based around them. For now I'm going to focus on the heroes, mission design can come later.

My plan is to stick to current/upcoming models, and follow the lead of the original in having no canonical characters (Darth Vader, etc.) as primary heroes. So far I've come up with four possible Imperial heroes:

Sith Apprentice - using Royal Guard Champion model, aggressive/fast force-user

ISB Agent - using one of the Imperial Officer models, pistol-wielding sneaky type

Trooper Commander - using Kayn Somos model (might just be Kayn Somos), front-line version of Gideon, perhaps with something like Fenn's skirmish ability to boost troopers

Heavy Weapons Expert - using Heavy Storm Trooper model, lots of firepower

One other possibility is a tech/support probe droid character, not sure what to do for a sixth character. Also considering doing Scum heroes at some point (assassin droid, mandalorian mercenary, rodian scum, trandoshan hunter, …?)

Questions for you:

  • Any other ideas for Imperial heroes, ideally using existing/forthcoming models?
  • Anyone know of anything similar to this already?
  • Do you know of an easy method for making custom character-cards, etc?
  • Would you actually be interested in seeing something like this, and/or helping play test it?
  • Any other suggestions?

I think this is a great idea. I hope that we see it appear someday from FFG.

Good ideas so far on the Imp side. Others could be The Emporer's Hand, Elite Stormtrooper (not heavy), Scout Trooper, COMPNOR agent.

For Scum there are so many ideas. Basically Firefly Tactical game. ;)

Thanks,
Duncan

Cheers Duncan. I've been posting up a couple of drafts over at the Reddit page , but I could copy them here if there's enough interest. Nice ideas for Imperial heroes as well - for now I'm planning on sticking to official models we have (or will soon have), but I could certainly branch out at some point.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I love the idea of a Scum campaign. There are so many opportunities when it comes to the story. Fighting the Imperials one mission, the Rebels the next. Betrayal, temporary alliances, a real "choose your own adventure" possibility.

Me too! Once I've got the Imperial campaign sorted I'm hoping to work out some Scum heroes. One other idea I had was to replace the 'ally' side missions with 'bounty' side missions, each of which sets the party off on an unrelated bounty hunt.

Current (obvious) hero ideas include Mandalorian Mercenary, Assassin Droid, Trandoshan Hunter, Rodian Scum, Ruthless Cyborg, and Tusken Exile. Currently weighing up whether or not to just make them all the ESB hunters (Boba, Bossk, IG-88 etc) or whether to give them new names. Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated!

Here's my 3 suggestions:

1) PLEASE go with characters that already have figures available to use. So, that would mean IG-88, Boba Fett, and even Bossk (we can just use a Trandoshan Hunter). If you put in characters that require figures that are NOT adaptable with what IA already has available, then you're asking for people to not even bother with it. Make is easy on us and we'll love you.

2) If they're scum, don't worry about whether they are in cannon or not, it's not like they have huge storylines that you can't squeeze other adventures around.

3) Make the cards and campaign guide print and play in a PDF or something.

If you do those

Yup, I've been trying to stick with characters we already have models for, hence the above suggestions. One of the Imperial heroes (Yarik Kagan) is an exception, but I would be very surprised if we didn't see a Scout Trooper at some point in the future. If you're interested you can see what I've done so far for the Imperial campaign here: Imperial Campaign Playtest Document Aurek (should pretty much be print and play)

We shall watch your career with great interest.
