Vader and Gunner

By macar, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I know it has been asked 100 times did search can't find

Can you

attack

gunner

vader vader

or just attack

vader

gunner

attack

You can

Attack

Vader

Attack

Vader

You use vader as long as the number of damage cards you have does not equal or exceed your hull value

If vader kills you on the first attack, you can still use gunner to make a second attack.

Did realize that last part - you can activate vader even if you've taken damage that would kill you during your own attack

I'm just asking because vader and Gunner both happen after an attack

Yes, and in most cases that would mean you could choose the order of resolution. In this case, though, it has been specifically ruled by FFG that the only acceptable order is Attack-Vader-Gunner-Vader.

Not sure what your saying here, or whether you are asking a question or just making a statement.

The rulings we have are that you can activate vader only if you aren't dead yet. Once damage cards=hull points you can no longer use vader.

Gunner, on the other hand, will get to activate and give you a second attack even if vader kills you after the first attack. You would not be able to use vader for that second attack, but you do get the attack.

Essentially, you can use vader as long as you aren't dead yet. Once your ship is damaged enough to be destroyed you cannot trigger vader and get free damage.
