Why would you close a forum for that, instead of disciplining the individuals responsible?

Yeah, well we don't like what they did. Tough. Painting and modelling NEEDS its own section. More than just about any other topic except, maybe, rules.

Facebook users should check out X-Wing Miniatures Mods and Repaints

There's a lot of great stuff there that I haven't seen on the FFG forums, and I doubt FFG can shut that one down. There's a few Armada, and Imperial Assault repaints there too.

With the removal of the painting subforum, so dies any interest I had in visiting this site anymore.

To remove the entire forum but not the threads just makes the main forum page less organized and makes it much harder to find what one is looking for.

It's crap moves like this that make fan run forums so much better than official ones.

WOW. This is quite a bummer. I'll miss being able to easily cruise through so many great artists' mods and repaints.

Trying to look at the positive; hopefully a peppering of awesome repaint threads in the main forum will help mitigate the soul-crushing act of seeing thread after thread of unhappy people complaining about the unhappy game that makes them unhappy.

What did they even accomplish? You could say they *promoted* whatever content they are having "internal issues" over by putting it in the main forum.

In all honesty, I was wondering if the number of pictures was causing problems due to the amount of memory needed, but with the threads now in the main section I suppose that's not the case.

I think this may be my fault. Was discussing miniature painting with a co-worker,whom I've taught XWing to, and he asked if anyone painted XWing ships and I brought up the forums on his computer to show him repaints and they were GONE. They hadn't put the threads into the main forum yet, so it was just everything gone. Took him to Macross's page to show him some ships though.

We have someone shouldering the blame! Quick, everyone start hating him!

I suppose I should also mention how much he liked your repaints on your page, the Z 95 with the Asian-style Dragon in particular

I got your message regarding the Star Wars Painting and Conversions sub-forums. Due to an internal concern, we have removed all of our Painting and Conversion sub-forums. As you may have noticed, the threads from those sub-forums have been moved back to the main discussion forums for the game.

Really? Oh well. Looks like I'll rarely visit here any more. I come here for TEotW-ZA and X-wing. I"m not running/playing in a TEotW-ZA game and was mostly only cruising the Custom/Paint Sub forum of X-Wing as none of my mates play, and pretty much the only local players of X-Wing are either annoying or simply 20 years younger than I am. Will I buy more X-wing stuff, or mote TEofW stuff? Sure. I guess this means I'll probably spend more of my free computer time elsewhere.

I wonder if this doesn't have something to do with the GQ Star Wars shoot... LFL/Disney was not pleased...

Yeah, a comedian, Amy Schumer .. she did a photo shoot in slave leia costume in bed with R2 and 3PO.. lfl and disney were not amused.. but.. they can suck a bag of rocks.. the painting forum was the one I gravitated to most and we gripped for over a year to get it put up.. now due to "internal concerns" they arbitrarily shut it down.. we wanted that so we didnt have to scroll through the crap to find all the cool repaints and mods.. this is a **** move and a WTF moment.. its BS...

Lame and poor decision making FFG... bad form here.. bring back the painting forums...

One of their lawyers got jumpy. This is hardly the first, nor the last time. At least they didn't delete the threads.

Which is what indicates that it has nothing to do with lawyers or copyright. If it were a legal issue the threads would have been deleted because it would be the content that was a problem.

Removing the customizing forum means they can claim that they are not actively promoting such behavior.

In either case, I'm quite upset and disappointed. The front page posts are so click-bait'y these days and always seem to be creating little flame wars so topics get dumped from the first page in less than a day. Whereas some thread like las cucarachs had some great brobot paint jobs, but would be easily missed if you don't check the board multiple times a day.

I will add my voice to the 'Why did the subforum go? Bring it back' movement.

That was one of my favourites. I was exstatic when it was created.
