Large Ships We Want to See in Armada

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in Star Wars: Armada

While the Executor may never make it in this game, for the various reasons we have all discussed previously on these boards, what are some ships comparable or larger than an Imperial Class you would want to see in Armada?

Some considerations.

World Devastators

From Dark Horse Comic's Dark Empire. Capable of engulfing an Imperial Class and turning an enemy ship into renewable resources, probably slow moving in game but game ending for a Rebel ship once it made base to base contact.

For those who play Imperial Assault playing a scenario set inside a World Devastator would explain the abundance of probe droids or even automated AT-STs.

Praetor Class Battlecruiser

Also known as Admiral Giel's Flagship as seen in Marvel Comics.

The Praetor Mark II-Class battlecruiser design was based on concept artwork made by Ralph McQuarrie during pre production for The Empire Strikes Back. The concept was one of several meant to be the Executor. The artwork was later recycled to depict Admiral Giel's flagship in the secret armada.

Since the ship is nowhere the size of the Super Star Destroyer, that's one way to get the "Executor" in Armada. This ship PREDATES the actual Executor by at least a year, and comes from McQuarrie's actual designs, how is that for pedigree!

At West End Games, I proposed we name the ship the Admiralty Class, a command ship for Moff and Flag Admirals but we were never given the green light to do a Marvel Comics sourcebook.

The Death Star.

Yeah scales already out the window for understandable reasons so give us a deathstar on the scale of attack wings ds9.

Comparable or larger?

Unlike the Deathstar answers, i'll try to be at least semi-realistic....

MC80b and/or MC90 cruisers

Bulwark Cruiser

Tector Star Destroyer

Hapan Battle Dragon (might actually be medium sized, it's an odd one)

Mandator Dreadnought

Probably a tone more, but i'm at work :D

Hmm, I dunno'; ever since the Star Wars site showed that the Executor was only 13,000m long rather than 19,000m it's made it sound at least a hair more feasi- *Ahem*

Bellator-class. Frankly, it's not much smaller than the Executor, but I still adore the look of that ship.

Rebel wise, MC80 Liberty is the only one I can think of.

What is that image from? I kind of like it.

Also, I would cast my vote with yours, for the MC80 Liberty-class. I've always found Home 1 to be ugly, but the graceful wings of Liberty are just right.

Really, I want to see what the Imperial is like before I start making requests... I mean, who knows, I might want to just capitalise on Victorys with Tractor Beams, never know :D

Blast, I guess I just linked the picture rather than the page. It's just one of the Wookipedia Bellator pictures (and not even my favourite) Anyway, Bellator page. I got to admit, I totally agree JgzMan, The Liberty style is a graceful looking ship, Home One is a bit of a... pickle. If I recall, the filming department from Jedi hated the model too, because it was hard to get flattering images of that thing. I mean, the ship is still cool, but I'll entirely agree that it's ugly.

Which sounds weird as I'll almost certainly pick up 2 when Wave 2 arrives: one because it's normal, and a second for some conversions because the whole ship reminds me a ton of the air-battleship from Castle in the Sky, which I have a lot of fond memories of.

Ah, but Dreasnighta, one can dream and one must grasp for something :P Lately I've been having this recurring one, you know, that Wave 2 is almost here because it has a July street date... yeah, good dream -long sigh-.

With how everything is up in the air with no spoilers being tossed around yet, I'm just far too jaded, and far too guarded. I struggle to let myself dream when the way the Canon shifted means I don't even know which direction I should be dreaming IN.

This may be way out there, but what if they did Clone War and Old Republic?

Lancer class frigate

Transports, interdictor (More objective scenarios like Xwing)

Space stations that have abilities and can shoot back

Scum class

Dreadnoughts etc

The Death Star.

Dangit. You beat me to it. I wasn't even going to have words, just the picture. Ah well.

Maybe just barebones Canon wishlisting, but I'd take a Secutor with a relatively obscene Squadron value.

Large Base Space Stations.

We want what is in THIS picture, (minus the shuttle, we will settle for death star 1 in place of this unfinished deathstar 2) <_< but the Executor is a MUST!

Agreed. I'll be disappointed if FFG can't find a way to include the Executor class in Armada as a large ship.

FFG gave X-wing players the Raider as an epic ship with a "Star Destroyer" feel. Maybe we can have something analogous to the Executor?

How about they print the Executor or Death Star as a large playmat where we can have turret minis placed on top of it? Perhaps we can have the Imperial player spend commands to activate them?

Dauntless class Cruiser

Venator class Star Destroyer

Secutor class Star Destroyer

Nebula class Star Destroyer

Endurance class Fleet Carrier

MC90

I'm going to go with the Liberty class cruiser, the winged version of Home One. Home One is in the Home One expansion pack, *not* the MC80 expansion pack. They might find variety in adding the winged version.

edit: It's also in the movies, one of the three ships remaining (the little corvette, the Executor and this one). I would hate it if they put it just as a title for the MC80 ship we're getting in wave2.

Liberator Cruiser

Can carry 6 Squadrons so it should be able to activate 6 squadrons. it would really make them worth while if you could do that. :D

But I think FFG really want this game to be more about ships battling one another so we might no see this one :(

Does this mean we are getting the obvious Interdictor class already? Because that's almost required. =/

Also, I am kind of bummed no death star or Executor. Lol. What did I get into this game for huh??

I like the Liberator but wasn't sure if she would be Large or Medium since she has never been officially statted anywhere, and is described as being small. But why does the Wookieepedia page list the points for its armament as the number of guns it carries? They didn't convert that way for any of the other ships in Rebellion so what made someone think they would for the Liberator? Hopefully FFG will include it in the RPG so we can fix that with official data.

I don't think there is a scale is there for armaments form books/internet to convert to armada? just lists of upgrades like XI7 on Neb. If I could design it I would go close to want was listed on Wookieepedia and divide the cannons by 20 and go 2 red and 2 blue on the sides 1 red and 1 blue on the front and 1 red on the back. Do you think that would be to powerful or just right?

First of all, we ALREADY have the Death Star. It's an FFG Playmat. That's as good as your are going to get. They COULD release a Death Star scenario that you have to play, where the rebels get like 200 more points, but every turn the SuperLaser fires and rolls something crazy like 9 dice and you cannot use defense tokens - or something like that.

Now for the ships I'd like to see?

Interdictor Star Destroyer would be the most logical next step. Maybe some Dreadnaughts as well. Also really want a way to get a bunch of GR-90 Rebel Transports on the board. And I don't mean with cardboard tokens.
