So I have begun seriously considering not using my own dice in the next tournament I enter. It's the only way to be sure things are truly even. If your opponent told you they wanted to use the same set, that being your set, of dice during the games would you have a problem with that?
Dice sharing competitively
No problem for me.
I wouldn't care at all.
Moving templates, range templates and dice can be shared to ensure no player gets an artificial advantage (such as acrylic movement templates and varying sizes of cardboard punchouts).
Right, but "rules say it can be done" is often not equivalent to "ok with others to do."
It is certainly better than some of the alternatives although if possible you really do need to bring your own dice. After all, what would happen if you don't bring any dice assuming you'll "share" your opponent's dice and they do the exact same thing?
A while back someone had some complaints about a player who didn't have enough dice and would just pick up one of his opponent's dice to make up the difference. Somewhere in the rules I believe it does talk both players using the same set of dice and most of us thought that would be a great time to use that.
Yeah, I would bring my own for situations like you say, but I am not worried about that as much as a person with statistically better dice not wanting to share...
Maybe the question is, can a player refuse to share dice if the other player only brings 3 of each?

I am sure there are a lot more things to worry about in the world then if your opponent is cheating with loaded dice in a plastic miniatures game.
I am more than happy to let my opponent roll my green dice most games I wish they would ![]()
I truly believe there should be a rule where the winner of Initiative decides who's dice both players use during the entire match.
as for the OP, no I would be happy to share my dice. would wonder about the people who say no!
I don't think I would want to share dice with people I don't know... :/
Local games I know the people I play with - I know they are clean individuals ...
Tournaments I have no idea who or what people have touched... ![]()
You should probably bring yours, cuz I would be worried about losing the meager few dice I have, sharing them. And some hand san spray for them. And then I wouldn't mind a bit. My dice are totally lucky though. =) I'm just bad at the game.
Wouldn't matter one bit.

I don't think that's his concern here. Dice aren't perfect so sharing means that him and his opponent get the same chances when rolling.
I've accidentally swapped dice with at least one person. As long as I get the same number of dice back, it's fine.
I actually usually offer to just use my dice instead of both player's. Since I have four cores, there's usually enough dice to go around with these.
If an opponent wants to use their own dice, it's not a problem, and I'm sure that I've traded lots of dice with different players like that already. Just like ObiWonka said, it's just a matter of getting enough dice back after the match (and neither too many nor too few).
When I meet my opponent for a given round (during a tournament) I always suggest we use the same set of dice/templates, either mine (which stand ready) or his/hers. I just find it a hassle to keep my stuff separated from his or her stuff, and having two sets of templates and dice on the field produces some unnecessary clutter.
Few people object to this, and when someone does, it makes me wonder why they aren't willing to share. Bad Childhood experiences? Trust Issues? Xenophobic? Mysophobic (what most of us would call a "germophobe")?
Whatever. It has the same feeling when you're meeting someone as receiving a weak handshake.
RAW you have to bring at least 3 attack and 3 defense dice.
Each player must bring an X-Wing core set and any additional components he needs for his squad. This includes but is not limited to dice, a range ruler, maneuver templates, asteroid tokens, and a complete Damage deck.
The tournament rules don't really say anything else about dice. So you wouldn't have to share yours with another player if you didn't wish to.
You can bring the "official" dice app (the one they advertise right on/in the core rule set box) in lieu of dice.

I'd be irked if my opponent wanted to share a single set of dice and templates. Having to share is a pain in the butt.

Generally, I prefer that my opponent use his own stuff and I use mine. It depends on the person I'm playing whether or not and what I share. With friends I have no problem sharing things. With random strangers not so much. My big exception to that is obstacles. I prefer we use just one player's obstacles so there's no confusion when the game is over.
I have found that many advocates of sharing are those who don't take care of their own stuff. So why would I want them using mine when they clearly don't care for their own? Cheeto dust on your fingers? Nope, not using my stuff. Your range ruler looks like a wet noodle? Yeah, not using mine.

I'd politely decline to share mine. But would accept using theirs if they're adamant.
I definitely prefer if my opponent brings and uses his own dice and templates. I like my dice and templates to be at a very specific spot on my right (I'm rather tidy). Dice swapping happened in the past and I don't care about that. I just hate wasting time looking for my stuff in the middle of a game; it's distracting.
Sure you can use my dice, you lose them, I expect a full replacement from eBay with in a week. I've grown attached to both regional sets now. Makes for sharing dice with newbies easy cause I always know which is mine though. Same with the templates.
