No AFII fleet

By Stasy, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm just trying to think out loud on a fleet for my first time playing publicly. Still haven't come up with objectives for the fleet... Comments welcome.

[ REBEL FLEET (294 points)

1 • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - General Dodonna - Yavaris (82)

2 • Nebulon-B Support Refit - XI7 Turbolasers - Salvation (64)

3 • CR90a Corellian Corvette - Engine Techs - Jaina's Light (54)

4 • Dutch'' Vander Y-wing Squadron (16)

5 • Y-wing Squadron (10)

6 • Wedge Antilles X-wing Squadron (19)

7 • Luke Skywalker X-wing Squadron (20)

8 • X-wing Squadron (13)

9 • Tycho Celchu A-wing Squadron (16)

Et seems a bit excessive on the corv

you'd get far more out of Raymus on Salvation (re-roll + conc fire die to fish for crits, surprise Squadron 2 out of a support refit which poor Yavaris will need to handle that many squadrons) and I also think it'd be worth it to just bite the bullet and up Salvation to an escort to help poor Yavaris out with the load.

also, heavily dislike wedge. He looks alright until you compare him to Vader, then he's just sad. The fact that his ability is limited when he costs almost 150% an X-wing is already halting, but after you've rolled 6 naked blue dice for incredibly unreliable returns you just start leaving him at home.

I'd knock him down and toss the generic Y to fit as many more A-wings as you can. You'll need them for the anti-squadron if you're not taking two Escort Frigates.

By himself wedge is not great, however paired with Dutch and Yavaris he's brutal. I've been expiramenting with Dutch, wedge, and Luke as my only fighters with Yavaris escort Neb w/ Antilles and XI7. 130 points good AA, good anti-ship. The remaining points into ships. Needs more testing but initial testing is encouraging.

Check this out, three Cr90B's with overload pulse and ECM, Escort Frigate with redemption and Mon Mothma, add a couple fighters.

It will change your life. Granted, you're losing a corvette to Demolisher, but that's expected.

Think not of the cr90 as an inveitablevloss, but rather a ticket that thou winneth at thine arcade and exchange for prize (only this time the prize is the enemy demolisher :))

If I had 3 CR90's I'd try that. I'm working with 2 Neb B's and 2 CR90's and one fighter pack. I've been thinking that tactics involving ramming may come into play eventually. :D

Got one of everything coming on Wave 2, so we'll see how the future works. Honestly, I don't get much seat time since it's only my friends locally who I can gather once every two weeks.

New revision on the fleet comp.

1 • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - Raymus Antilles - XI7 Turbolasers - Yavaris (75)

2 • Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - General Dodonna - Salvation (84)

3 • CR90 Corellian Corvette B - Electronic Countermeasures - Overload Pulse - Jaina's Light (56)

4 • Wedge Antilles X-wing Squadron (19)

5 • Dutch'' Vander Y-wing Squadron (16)

6 • X-wing Squadron (13)

7 • Y-wing Squadron (10)

8 • A-wing Squadron (11)

9 • A-wing Squadron (11)

The thought is that I keep Wedge and Dutch within range of Yavaris and the bland X/Y with Salvation. Use the A's as interferance vs opposing interceptors.

Don't you want XI7s with Salvation? You want all Salvation's doubled crits and hit-hits getting through without being redirected.

Quite right! I must have put it on the wrong ship.

Don't believe the hype, Wedge is pure awesome sauce, especially in conjunction with Dutch. And together they become a TIE buzzsaw when in range of Yavaris. Six blue dice versus almost any TIE will result in a dead squadron regardless of who is commanding it in very short order. About the worst he can do, is six hits versus a scramble token, but that doesn't happen too often.

Thinking of changing the build up to go more ships, less fighters. Kind of inspired by my tournament experience. Getting the feeling the fighter heavy list isn't quite effective. I'm scared to go B Wings, so maybe I'll swap out for two X's just for mobility.

The worst he can do is any combination of six Crits and Accuracies. The most disheartening is what you said.

So this build is mediocre... No tournament experience, but just self play and a game against a pal. I need to learn to maneuver better... I keep letting the opponents close the gap and smoking 3 of 4 ships. I do like the current revision of my fleet a bit better though.

Neb B Sup w/ XI7 and Salvation

Neb B Esc w/ Mon M and Yavaris

CR90 A w/ Jaina and XX9 (fly with Salvation)

CR90 A w/ Tantive and XX9

Luke Skywalker

2x Y Wings

Feels like it lands more without getting too close (As long as you're not like me the 2nd half of the games). Fighters used primarily as a flank cover.
