Miniature Market Sale

By Stasy, in Star Wars: Armada

Just an FYI, Miniature Market is having a sale on the VSD for $16. For anybody trying to flush out their fleets.

I take it you mean "flesh out your fleets." If anyone is trying to flush your fleet, please don't. You can send it to me instead. I'll pay for shipping. ;)

While this is an amazing deal, I already have 3 VSDs and don't think I'll ever need a 4th. Now, if and when GSDs or Assault Fish go on sale... ;)

Shipping to the UK is too much :(

already have two; third'll be an ISD

debating $16 flight controllers

If I pick up this and then a core and squad pack at my LGS would I have enough to compete when they decide to use the summer tournament kit?

Yes two VSD and fighters can work well.

the VSDs are slow, though, so it'll be tough going until you get used to them

the cards included in the core and the Wave 1 pack are enough to make one of their most effective builds, however, which is a simple squadron support ship. Expanded Hangars and Flight Controllers on a VSD-1 really turns imperial squadrons into something to be feared, while the VSD's base power provides some decent long range fire and some scary close-range "don't ever come here." Use one with Major Rhymer to turn even Tie Fighters into very convincing anti-ship threat.

The main weakness of the VSD is that, currently, it's difficult to outright kill anything with it other than another VSD (will change @400, when there's more ships and bigger ships to target) due to its lack of maneuverability. Having a heavy squadron presence side-steps that problem, and the VSD is quite beast at supporting them. Otherwise, you're going to have to try to intercept the enemy, and that's pretty hard to do generally (unless there's an objective the enemy needs to pick up and you got a front-arc parked right by it).

In terms of ship-to-ship combat, a VSD-2 with the dominator title is the main solution I've found to the problem of maneuverability. It'll hurt you, but it'll also let you throw 2 reds and 3 blues out of your side arcs and 8(!) total dice out of your front.

Some not bad prices there.. I am very temped to order and get my mate to on ship to me in NZ

That went fast. Didn't have a chance to get one.

On small orders yes but I got a cr-90 for x-wing when they had a sale on and even with shipping I only paid £45 total for a ship still in the £65-70 price range in the UK.

Ask friends if they want some stuff as well.
