This came up last night as a result of a crit, if a ship loses its actions from its action bar does astromech still work?
I thought agromech gave you a free action given that the wording mentions nothing about giving you a token.

Agromech does not give you a free action. You simply target lock the defender (similar to FCS).
So, I would say you can target lock.
You can do this even if you are stressed, too.
The answer is maybe. If you already have a focus to spend and spend it during the attack the Agro will give you a TL. If you don't have a focus token, you can't perform the Focus Action to get the token so no TL. But if you're ASSIGNED a focus from an outside source such as Kaat'to's ability or Palob's you're good.
As mentioned elsewhere, the word action has a very specific meaning in X-wing. Being assigned a focus token or spending one is not an Action.
Check the FAQ section for damage card explanations. DSA is on that list.
Edited by StonefaceThe Agromech allows you to "acquire" a target lock after you spend a focus token. This is not an action.
So assuming you are hit while you have a focus token and get the Damaged Sensor Array Card, you can still acquire a target lock after you use the focus token to modify your defense or attack dice.
A similar situation might be with be the Lambda Shutlle - Colonel Jendon assigning a target lock to a ship with the Damaged Sensor Array or even to a ship WITHOUT the Target Lock in their action bar.
That ship cannot Target Lock by it's own action, but Jendon can still pass the target lock to it.
